did you leave off Brown on purpose ? Ie you think he’ll be in the BP? I am still hopeful he’ll be a TOR guy

All these comments banking on McCullers/Garcia coming back in July are making a mistake. We have no idea when or if either comes back this season. Hope for the best, but plan for the worst case, which is that they don't make it back this year. Anything either gives you in 2024 is a bonus.

I agree with that, and he's not the only one.

Chas was by far the better hitter with the bases empty.

Also, Chas got .31 RBIs per PA with men on while Bregman only got .26. If you want to put faith in context (i.e., when a guy performed over season long stats), Chas was money in the regular season (I'm a liitle surprised he was only 3rd in WPA for the team). Bregman was better in the postseason.

    Sousa with another tough outing.

    0.2 IP, 2 H, 1 BB

He also took a comebacker off his pitching hand.

    That's a low bar.

Yep - but that is presumably the bar. Cabbage would replace Singleton on the roster

I expect someone to replace Singleton on the bench and perhaps from the roster. Both he and Whitley are playing for their Astro careers and possibly their MLB careers. I believe there is at least one other who is out of options as well.

No, it just slipped my mind. With Hader on the Astros, I highly doubt Brown is in the pen unless he really struggles as a starter.

It is all about available assets (finances and trades), who the Astros have and the odds of an injury hitting and the odds of an injured player returning.

    Right now the Astros have:

    Verlander
    Valdez
    Javier
    Brown
    France
    Urquidy
    Bielak
    Blanco
    Possibly Arrighetti
    Garcia
    McCullers

That is possibly up to 11 guys..... with two injured, one a rookie....... so basically 8 possible candidates.

Anything is possible, and I think the Astros would be open to an inning eater - but they have guys they can use.

I'm really hoping we are healthy enough for a 6 man rotation for the entire year. I really think we stumbled upon a winning strategy by accident when we had the shortened pre-season at a time we had excess SP which needed to be stretched out.

I wouldn’t mind Lorenzen just because I’m a believer than when you think you have enough pitching you should get two more

But anyone you sign now takes you into second tax level, and more importantly you don’t want to climb toward level 3 and risk making deadline deals iffy
