    I've been talking about him.

He would finish out a great LB corp.

I'd rather spend on Jones and Danna if we go that big on DL.

    Now back to reality.

Texans better land a running back

I can't imagine Motor feeling wanted and appreciated by his teammates who are "openly" recruiting Barkley

Striking out on a RB then Motor signing elsewhere would be a huge blow

All we'd have left is 2022 STAR of the Future, Dameon Pierce.

Love Singletary. However we need a RB who can catch passes out of the backfield for this offense.

You're describing Terry Metcalf. That's the guy I'm always recalling when the new Metcalf (DK) is mentioned

If this is salary related, then this could provide depth at a minimum. If it's like baseball, picking up a cut player will not require picking up any existing financial obligation. OLB is the greater need than ILB.

It's kind of both. His combination of high salary and diminished performance the past few seasons led to the release.

He'd be a reclamation project, a potential low risk high reward type.

He's still young enough to take a prove it deal. Playing last year for the Texans has really helped the value of some of our free agents.

If the only external FA we signed was jones and signed Barnett rather greenard, could we re-sign the rest of our starting FA’s? If so, that is a solid route in my opinion. Jones at tackle would instantly transform our defense to one of the best in the league. The main issue with our secondary was lack of pressure from the front four. Demeco hates to blitz. 1st and 2nd rounds should be best available at cb or wr.

YES. WE COULD. I don’t think y’all understand how much money we have, and that APY is not the same as cap hit per year, and that any contracts 3-4 years or less are off the books before ANY major decisions must be made. We can literally go crazy with our spending (we won’t) and still be totally fine in the future.

in the past, there has been a need for the conservative guys to voice their opinion and keep everyone that just wants “flashy” in check. People who want to curb the madden GM’s just putting all the best players on one team and save future draft picks and cap space.

    THIS IS NOT THAT OFF-SEASON.

this is the one off-season in the history of the team where all the stars have aligned that we have one single large contract on the team, our best players on rookie deals for 4 more years, and a bunch of cap space. There is no consequence to putting all 70+ mil into 3 year contracts. If Barkley breaks his body in one year he’s still off the books before cj or WAJ. If Jones goes downhill, same with him. It’s the best draft for a WR in years and ppl want to add oline DEPTHHHHHH… it’s maddening that we can’t break out of this kid-glove approach for one single off-season where it makes complete sense to do so.

instead, we will wait 2 years and then when we think the team is Super Bowl ready we will want to add players but need to pay cj and be blocked, and will have wasted the last 2 years.

    sorry, /rant.

How much money we have won't even bring back last year's team because they played their values up so much. If we had last years team and added the cap space, I'd understand your point of view.

    1. I disagree that we couldn’t bring them all back.
    2. I don’t want to bring them all back.
    3. I have multiple posts showing how we could bring back the ones we want and add big names and still be fine. Again, APY does not equal cap hit.

the chiefs have like 20 mil space, trying to keep Jones and Sneed, and ppl are still connecting them with Mike Evans. But we are over here trying to add OL depth and figuring out how we can possibly add anyone with 75+ mil…

You don't pay a DT $30 million a year at 30 years old who has won Superbowls and is now only looking to get paid. Disaster waiting to happen. Not Caserio's style.
