I think this is the best move for the Vikings. Two or three #1s would be an insane haul for them if another team is dumb enough to offer that.
Texans are not trading for Jefferson...especially since it'll cost multiple firsts. Texans don't have that luxury.
Ok, I agree with you, but not with the way you put it. Texans don’t have that luxury??? Why not? We have all the first rounders in future years. They will more than likely be back end of the round picks, and we have our best players at the most important positions on rookie deals.. if we don’t have that luxury, please tell me who does… y’all gettin wild with how restricted you want to play at a time where we finally have the LUXURY to go hard. but to reiterate, I don’t want to trade multiple firsts for JJ.
I would give up this yrs 1st and a 2025 1st for Jefferson. I doubt Caserio will though. He's proven he can draft WR's outside of the 1st rd.
I would not give up two #1s for Justin Jefferson. Texans would also have to pay him ~$30 million/year. Their main priority should be building out the roster by having legitimate starters at every position and adding depth. Giving up two #1s while also gutting the payroll on one player isn't something they can afford to do IMO.
I think JJ is worth that, but I really like our WR room with a speedster added and would rather get 2 stars at other positions with those picks. That being said, I’m not gonna complain if Caserio does it haha.
This is a very strong WR class - if Texans need a good young guy on the cheap, take one from the dang draft with #23! Excellent chance Brian Thomas will be there for us.
Nick can make Cal give Jefferson a big bonus to bring his cap number down, they can add void years if he signs a long term deal, this is more doable that you realize. They can pay him "25-27" million a year with his cap number being in the teens giving them flexibility to sign more players, the nfl cap is ridiculously flexible
In principle I agree with you. However I think Jefferson is the best WR in the NFL. That's worth it. There are very few players I would do a deal like this for. Jones, Donald, Wilkins, Bosa, and that's about it.
Why does everyone always jump right to Pay them what they want? People always want the moon and only idiots agree.
From a financial side, fans must come to grasp with the difference between on-field value and trade value. Let's pretend we agree on the following about Jefferson: 1. His OF play is worth $30M. 2. His Contract for 2024 is $20M. 3. He is only under Contract for 1 year. 1 (which is reflected in his FA value) - 2 (which is his total compensation, not just his base salary) is his EXCESS VALUE. $30M - $20M = $10M The excess value is his value in a trade, not his OF value. Now $10M is nothing to sneeze at, but the floor for a 1st round draft pick is well beyond that because it comes with 4 years plus a fifth year option of team control at what is usually below market value. What you get is outrageously inflated asking prices because too many teams have been fiscally irresponsible in the past. Fantasy Football should not extend to the real assembly of teams. Some fans just try to prove they can afford to pay too much and assemble a team of ONE.
Just to make sure my assumptions are correct, the only FAs currently available for signing are players who did not finish the 2023-24 season with a team and those the FA's from That particular team until after the 2023-2024 league season officially ends, which unlike baseball, doesn't come at the end of the playoffs. So we can sign Weeks because he's our player technically until the official end of the season and we can sign Haynes because he wasn't technically on any other team's roster or eligible for the draft.
