Ime Udoka praises Amen Thompson after win over Suns

Amen is getting close to getting that full time starting slot. So much smarter than Jalen.

 

I would start Amen over JG rn. Hes just a difference maker defensively and he provides that secondary ball handler/facilitator role that cam doesnt.

 

Amen is an Ime player and you can tell how much he likes Amen because he always smiles when he looks at him.. Probably reminds him of a much better version of himself. Amen i imagine is a very coachable, down to earth kid and coaches love that.

 

If Amen can get a respectable 3 ball and improve his free throw shooting….. oh boy….

 

Ime: Amen is great and possibly reason why we won tonight and he’ll get better, however I ain’t starting him over Jalen.

I'm the original and unwavering Amen supporter but didn't think he was the guy to replace Jalen in the starting lineup.

This is still my position but I'm starting soften up a bit.

I mean he played 12 more minutes than Jalen and closed. So effectively he is starting

 

You would think, naturally, that he would ruin the spacing. But i dont think he would because, well our spacing sucks anyways lmao

But truly, he cuts well off the post up, and plays the dunker spot well. He fits that defense first mantra and defensive hustle focus Ime wants. Would help us get off to better atarts with his energy.

 

Yeah, I don't know if there's much difference in spacing between Jalen and Amen, because guys already play way off from Jalen. But unlike Jalen, Amen is a major problem for teams on the other end, plus he's already an elite rim finisher for a guard.

 

He's never going to be a shooter, but everything else is so good, including his basketball IQ, it's apparent to me now that you can work around that. I'm sold. He's becoming a very nice player.

Amen has improved a lot since his first game and like Cam, he's fearless and won't back down to other players when they try to punk him.

Maybe he'll never be a great shooter but he just has to be an okay shooter but improves his strengths (rebounding and defense) and he'll still be a force in this league.

While no comp is perfect, there would be a lot of similarities to prime Andre Iguodala. I've mentioned that as one of Amen's possible ceilings before. Definitely wouldn't hate that. Amen has better court vision, probably. But we can't take improving to a 35% 3-point shooter for granted.

 

The amount of heart on that starting 5 would be ridiculous however unless senguin learns to deal with doubles they will struggle to score
