Empathy is not to push genital mutilation on kids, empathy is for kids to grow up how they want and make a wise adult decision when they are old enough and can decide for themselves what they want to do with their bodies. Empathy is not to push LGBT people in every single aspect of our lives just simply because they are LGBT. You are creating forced acceptance where mentally ill people may find comfort temporarily and make some really bad decisions they will have to live with the rest of their lives because politicians needs to villainize someone in order to get votes. Empathy is to naturally accept everyone for who they are and not what they are. They could have sent prominent democrat politicians to the border walking around these border towns and see that there is no invasion and spammed that narrative and instead bought into the right wing framing. Of course. We all want options so we can pick what best aligns with us personally. However in 2020 there was a primary, and there were many many options. Many were younger like Mayor Pete. Many were outside the box like Tulsi Gabbard, or Marianne Williamson. However the electorate chose Joe Biden for quite a few reasons. Iowa actually chose Mayor Pete FYI. It was South Carolina then the Super Tuesday states where the electorate voted and solidified him as the best candidate for the party... AND there was never any indication that the vote was only a single term just as it was understood when Republicans voted for an elderly Ronald Reagan that it was likely for two terms as well even though he was older. This isn't a perfect Democracy, but it is probably the most longstanding one in our history if you don't count the Roman empire which even before it became totalitarian was not a perfect Democratic Republic. ........ If you are serious about having us take your grievances more serious in discussion, I would just ask that you take a look in the mirror a little bit too. I'm not going to tell you that everything is perfect with the Democratic party, it's leadership, and it's policies. However it's not nearly the monster that you preach that it is, and is unfortunately the only thing in the near future that will fend off clear authoritarianism here in America. It's not even hyperbolic to state that if Trump wins, and get's his way at corrupting government to bend to his will, that this might be the last election where your swing state vote actually counts. This is the first post from you that I see as genuinely honest and that you care. (Outside of actual politicians running for office) People become very involved in politics because they really care about something and they strongly believe their viewpoints are good. What you have stated here comes down to policy differences. I see that you strongly believe liberal (you said libtard) policies are really bad and your policies are for the good. True empathy involves seeking to understand others with an open mind and heart, regardless of differences in background, beliefs, lived experiences, or policy differences. It means you would try to understand the liberal's perspective (and liberals would try to understand yours and other conservative perspectives). And really, the only way to do that is to not assume evil or have hate (true empathy simply cannot coexist with strong assumptions or hate). Carry on.
