It wasn't sticky to begin with; it was in negotiation and still is, AFAIK. Some individuals, like @Space Ghost and others, disdain dogmatism. Yet, they label it 'political' or 'hypocrisy' when politicians opt for practicality over dogmatism. While certain principles, like democracy and ethics, shouldn't be negotiable, flexibility is crucial when dealing with new ideas or pathways, such as transitioning from old to new energy. The one thing I do not want to see is a POTUS who thinks they know it all and is so smart that they stick to a path, regardless of how the environment has changed (and it is always changing). P.S. This is why George HW Bush's 'Read my lips: no new taxes' wasn't a big deal to me; it was actually a POTUS doing a good thing. He responded to changes (growing debt due to a war and economic changes) and compromised. In contrast, his son was dogmatic, fighting multiple wars while lowering taxes, causing a huge balloon in the debt.
lol now the environment is always changing and always will, so global warming narrative is a farce? Anyways, I am not sure what you're saying here. My original post was about Biden relaxing the emission standards. If the administration is trying to relax current emission standards, that is bad. Fact is most of us do not need big ass polluting vehicles for our day to day routine and IF standards are being relaxed so Detroit can continue to make big profits on their trucks, that should be criminal. Diesel should already be banned from commutators and only allowed for commercial/industrial use only. We need to stop uniformly polluting our air.
Lack of turnout among the swing states or protest voting 3rd party of course is the greatest fear among Democrats. The Biden people openly acknowledge they have work to do the bring back some of these voters in PA, and Michigan in particular. Michigan and its Middle Eastern population is a huge concern too with Netanyahu’s war against Palestine. Trump could win the electoral college because of lack of enthusiasm of Biden’s policies with swing state pocket of single issue voters for sure. Nobody is denying that he has work to do. I also think this is where the whole age debate comes into play when it comes to well meaning Democrats also expressing concerns in polls etc. It’s not that they don’t think he can do the job and do it well. Being president isn’t a physically demanding job as much as it is about just making good final decisions on things coming down the pike. However campaigning is a physically demanding job for anyone not named Trump who only has to do rally’s and truth social from the toilet. At his rallies the only thing Trump does is rant and rave about the same grievances he’s had since 2015, and his cult followers love it. With Biden or any other candidate though it’s different expectations. Biden has to spend hours meeting with union members in Michigan speaking directly at their specific issues, then he has to go to Georgia and speak with African American leaders on a whole other set of issues, etc etc. He has to do event after event after event and lead a country in between. That’s where I think where well meaning Democrats have voiced their concern about his age more than those who aren’t well meaning and are right wing autocratic hacks who think a 77 year old obese man with a hair piece wearing makeup is “strong” just because he can talk nonsense and yell a lot. I could give a rats ass what those people think about in terms of Bidens age.
Not literally the environment (though that will always be changing as well; and yes, global warming is happening—neither a narrative nor false), but the environment of technological readiness, infrastructure, economy, cost, and user acceptance, and so on. "Feasibility" is a succinct term for it. Ideally, we should be zero-carbon and pollution-free tonight. It's not realistic or feasible. The Biden administration is not relaxing current emission standards. The new, much more rigorous standard has been in negotiation and has not been set yet. It's still very aggressive, just less than what it was. But again, still not settled.
It's a concern. Hopefully when they are about to pull that lever, they realize that Trump would be much worse for them and that a protest vote against Biden is essentially a vote for Trump.
Poor Biden. Only president in history who is too busy doing his job to campaign. Definitely not his age. Its like the DNC is trying to lose ... or have become too stupid from being infected with TDS. How to lose an an election in two easy steps: Antagonize and embolden the populace movement by continuously trying to litigate, prosecute, imprison and remove eligibility from ballot of their lead candidate. Put up 81 year old 'weekend at Bernies' candidate and hope to convince the population he is sharper than ever, thus leading his voters to stay home when they know the party is FOS.
what about people who won't vote for Biden or Trump. do you care what they think, and whether they might be persuadable w/ a different, more cognitively aware, candidate?
I can't fix people who cannot think logical, but yes of course I would love to be in a world where those people who say they are are protest voters/non-voters are persuadable. The issue that we see here in this space is the people say they are in this camp, are continually arguing in bad faith, and do have a bias against Democrats/Liberals. So no... I don't think you and SpaceGhost deserve to be catered to and we should be allowed to be gaslit by your bad faith arguments assuming that's what you are asking for ultimately. ..... However there are persuadable voters in swing states for sure. I just don't see them here in the DD. Where those voters would be would be in the GARM where they just are people who completely block out politics in their daily lives, and are oblivious to the fact that we might actually not be a Democracy if Trump wins in 24, and that things like the Abortion banning might actually impact them or the women in their lives at some point. Especially when a Trump type of autocrat is in charge of federal enforcement. I do not blame people for being oblivious, and ignorant. Often I wish I would be able to block these things out of my mind, and just be focused 100% on the more enjoyable things in life.
I'm someone who won't vote for Trump or Biden under any circumstances and there are plenty of people like me. I don't think that says anything other than the fact that our country is offering two absolutely awful options and that needs to change.
OMG, you are so into trump that you criticize a sitting president for not campaigning since you have been so conditioned by trump's continual campaign (he was campaigning the day after his inauguration).
Amazing how you swing your whataboutism from Trump campaigning D1 and Biden never campaigning. In my reality, incumbents routinely go on the campaign trail well into a year before the election. Or are you so invested in your team that you refuse to accept that Weekend at Bernies simply is not up to the prerequisite of becoming a legit candidate?
Biden is currently campaigning and fundraising; it's still early. Anticipate an uptick in his campaign activities in the coming months. Regarding Trump's legal issues, that's not Biden's doing, nor is it the DNC's doing. It's simply what naturally happens to a life-long fraudster who commits crimes.
My "team"? I reckon you can put me on "Team Never trump" with the Project Lincoln folks and other republicans that have clearly stated their positions to oppose trump and support anyone or any thing else. Even a deceased Joe Biden. I'd much rather be on that "team" than the maga team... especially the trump supporter wing that pretends they don't support him. btw, if you are so trumpy to pretend that President Biden is hidden away... you could at least verify your BS position by looking at the President's schedule, easily available online: https://factba.se/biden/calendar Unless, of course, you are so pro-trump to believe its an actor, pretending to be President Biden...
Good for you. I don't see any evidence that you are a gettable vote for Democrats given the fact that you spend every waking moment on here telling us how much you despise Democrats while never saying a thing about Republicans or Trump that could be perceived as negative. One could even be led to believe that you are in fact full of crap, and just gaslighting & trolling Democrats for sport. If you are a gettable vote, how about engage in the dialog with an attitude that isn't 110% grievance towards Democrats. Maybe it's fair to ask for folks like yourself who beg for attention from Democrats to actually treat the dialog with a bit more respect of our time, and show good faith??
I despise the current iteration of the Democratic Party, this is true. a new generation of leadership might change my mind. it would be nice to have new options.
