Taylor Swift gives $100,000 to the family of the woman killed in the Chiefs parade shooting

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Taylor Swift donated $100,000 to the family of Lisa Lopez-Galvan, the woman killed in the shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory parade.

Two $50,000 donations were posted Friday under the singer’s name on a GoFundMe page. Swift’s representative confirmed the donations to Variety, the trade publication reported, and The Associated Press independently verified the posts.

“Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences in the wake of your devastating loss. With love, Taylor Swift,” read the messages accompanying the posts.

Lopez-Galvan, 43, was shot Wednesday as she celebrated the Chiefs’ Super Bowl win with her husband, young adult son and hundreds of thousands of other fans at the city’s Union Station. Lopez-Galvan hosted “Taste of Tejano” on local radio station KKFI-FM, as Lisa G. The mother of two had deep roots in Kansas City, and was one of the few Latina DJs in the area.

“She was an amazing mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to so many. We ask that you continue to keep her family in your prayers as we grieve the loss of her life,” the GoFundMe description reads. The fundraised had amassed over $200,000 as of Friday morning.

Twenty-two others, half of whom were under 16, were wounded in the shooting. Investigators are still trying to identify who is responsible, but say a dispute may have led to the shooting. Police have two juveniles in custody and are trying to determine whether others were involved.

Swift, who is dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and attended Sunday’s Super Bowl, was not at Wednesday’s parade. She’s currently performing a series of shows in Melbourne, Australia, as part of her Eras tour.

The Chiefs said all players, coaches, staffers and their families were safe and accounted for after the shooting.

I think the real question is what kind of backwards country has so many guns and that there laws are so lax that teenagers can easily get guns and kill other people and each other.

Thats the real question- what country cares so little about the protection of their citizens that they allow guns to so easily flow that children can easily get them.

For all the problems that the rest of the First World has - it is smart enough to not manufacture more inevitable problems like this.

Let’s not dwell on it too much though - let’s get distracted by pronouns or some sack of **** failure dictator in Eastern Europe.

Dip ***** don’t understand that having more handguns in the USA than people is incredibly stupid. Dip ***** also don’t understand that kids have easy access to buy and use guns - and the pre-frontal cortex isn’t completely developed until into their mid 20’s but it’s a-ok for them to have easy access to guns and every 20 years or so send a generation of 18 year olds off to war to get PTSD from shooting people.

Let’s talk about “thugs” though - especially when you all are the same assholes that make it really easy for them to get handguns.

The media can talk about the dispute if they want to - the dispute between teenagers really doesn’t matter though because they are teenagers - the real story is that grown ass adults are so ****ing stupid that they support a situation where dumbass teenagers can easily get guns and kill people.

 

no-one, literally, is "supporting a situation" where teens, dumbass or not, can easily get guns and kill people. it is in fact already illegal under federal and MO state law for teens to buy, carry, possess, or obtain any gun. the "adults" have already done the job you're complaining about.

now, let's find out how they got them, who helped them, and charge those dumbasses.

It is a known and well established fact that the sheer number of handguns and the ease at which they can procure them has resulted in a large number of teenagers and gang members having easy access to handguns -AND - a homicide rate by handgun in the USA that is shocking to the rest of the world.

So you can say no one is supporting the situation, but actions show otherwise. It clearly isn't a priority for some people in the United States.

You can say whatever makes you feel better - but it is pretty damn obvious.

There are over 400,000,000 handguns in the USA - that is where they get their handguns.
