Cody Williams should be the no 1 pick for me. We need shooting STAT and WIlliams looks just as good if not better than his bro.
Exactly. People complain about the bad recod but at the same time complain that we have too much talent. We don't have enough talent that's why we have a bad record. Jalen can't shoot, Tari and Cam are injured, Bari plays soft etc You are right only Sengun right now deserves to be the core and theefore we should still be in talent collection mode till we hit on a superstar.
If we could land in a spot to get him or Risacher I would definitely keep the pick--those two are good fits and good prospects. I don't see huge upside with them, I think they're closer to being Keegan Murray type of guys, but we're at the stage where we could use a player like that. I think we have enough upside on this roster and now we need a good two-way shooter.
I don't have a strong opinion on this, honestly...except to say if the right deal comes along for a veteran, I'd absolutely jump all over it. I feel like we have so many young guys who need court time already to develop...I already feel like Cam and Amen should be getting more minutes...not sure how that works if we add more to that pile. I would probably be more solidly in the "hold the pick at all costs" camp if I thought this was going to be a great draft class...it doesn't appear to be.
How about a proven young roleplayer rather than a veteran? If you could get a Coby White, Collin Sexton, Ayo Dosunmu, etc would you do it?
As an attorney, my answer is: "it depends." Kidding...that's a really good question. I think I might be tempted to do something like that.
After guys like Brandon Miller, Desmond Bane, Herb Jones andnJaime JJ I don't really believe in the so called upside anymore. If a dude is tall and athletic enough to not be reduced to being a liability and if his skill immediately translates then he is gonna be amazing IMO. Williams and Risacher are my two fav prospects in next year's draft I think right now the Rox have a 40% chance to get a top 4 pick so maybe we end up with one of them lol.
It's pretty interesting that OKC, who are 2nd in the West and look like a legitimate contender, are content to hold onto all of their picks and develop them. They have two projected lotto picks this year (ours and Utah's) and a ton of future picks from various teams. They didn't try to cash them in at the deadline for veterans, nor are they ever in trade rumors for available stars. They are patient and put their draftees in the rotation. Meanwhile, we're 12th in the West and not even close to competing, but half of the fanbase is looking for immediate help. Yeah, let's cash in these Brooklyn picks and climb up to 9th. That's the ticket to greatness.
Hmm, in an ordinary draft I agree. In a weak draft like this one, IDK. Looks like mostly roleplayers in this class to me. In the top 4 I wouldn't trade away the pick. If we're around #8 or #9 I might consider it.
I think we will draft at 5 or 6 and get a POWER FORWARD who is physical, tough, block shots and rebound. Jabari is a small forward.
I am not going to comment on whether it is better to trade the picks or use them. However as a Rox and youth fan, I am all in for the excitement if we do draft this year. Sam thinks this draft will be less of a BPA so we can speculate wildly. Throw me some prospect names, thanks.
now that we have some hindsight on that move, I think drafting Rudy Gay would have been better. Loved Battier but Rudy had a long, solid career. Having that control on a rookie scale contract would have been better. The fact that JVG really wanted it had to be a factor, especially with Morey being a new GM
We can get a helluva player there, but at the same time...I don't mind moving it in the right deal....
Simons from Portland seem like a good replacement for Jalen for a few years. 24 Nets pick, Jalen and filler works. Amen, Simons, Cam , Bari, Sengun Bench FVV, Brooks, Tari, Adams Simons, cam, and Jabari provide 3 pt shooting. Amen will get to the bucket at will and you have two high bbiq to facilitate. Second unit can play at a slower pace with defense. Playoffs next year and then you have FVV, Simons and the rest of our picks as trade assets
Matas Buzelis looks pretty good, 6’10 with a smooth shot and plays defense. Reminds me of a young and skinnier Dirk.
