Basically once they were all consolidated. What's going to be interesting is that they just ended their deal with all of their distributors (Republic National in Houston) and have changed to mostly Miller distributors. Beer distributors have never done well with liquor so it'll be interesting to see how they handle allocation going forward.
not sure if serious, but I would sip a dram of Double Lover. https://www.bourbonbanter.com/taylo...whiskey-collection-inspired-by-iconic-albums/
Yeahhhh... I'm not sure about the "collector bourbon", that's just not my deal. Buying and enjoying is better than buying and hoarding. If you do that, I'll buy a bottle from you in a few years. I have a few dozen sitting around too, we could trade?
I'm with you on the collector bourbon, or collector anything really. if I have to join a list, or stand in a line, I'd just as soon go home and open a bottle of the standard pour. but happy to share a dram with you anytime.
There's a thousand bottles a year, released at various times, that you can never get, because of those guys ordering them online, or sending people to the distillery to buy up as many bottles as they're allowed to. Shameful S**t. Deal.
The whole thing has become ridiculous. I'm thinking of moving to Irish whiskeys because they're easier to find. I have one bottle I "collect" and I drink the rest. I'd rather stick to the $20-$50 range and enjoy them that to watch things collect dust. I might shell out $55 for a Heaven Hill BiB and occasionally the Sill Austin Cask Strength, but usually it's Old Grandad BiB at $19 or Early TImes BiB if in stock.
The Pepper 1776, which is 100 proof, is ~$30, and is as good a bourbon as I've had recently. there's a comparable 1776 Rye, which is also quite good, although I'm partial to Rittenhouse. https://www.totalwine.com/spirits/b...fuajltip34HGCUfAHCxoCIyIQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
Very nice rums are the affordable niche right now. Gins as well. Tequilas are starting to go the way of bourbon.
No Jameson for me except as a shot...even then, not my favorite. I did try Teeling Small Batch recently. Was pretty smooth and close to what I enjoy in bourbon.
Strangely, the bourbon is $4 cheaper in Texas. Haven't seen it before. I'll try it out. Not a big rye fan, personally.
