On a similar note, I view Stone as a guy who is good at maintaining the statis quo.
If we were already a top 5 team, he might reliably keep us in contention.

But that isnt our situation. Does he push all the chips in for 2024/25?
This coming off-season might determine his legacy.

    C... the epitome of average....

consensus picks at the top of the draft...
good work on the later picks...
decent low risk trades - but nothing spectacular...
poor job allowing Silas - good job hiring Ime...
Decent on the FA acquisitions... not great, but decent...
wasted some good cultural rebuild time on the likes of kpj and Woods...

    overall...
too content to sit on his hands and just wait for 'the process' to happen - but didnt shoot us in the foot on any dealings...

    ...so he gets a C

...with plenty of ability to improve his grade this off season.

Stone earned a lower grade because he watched and remained idle. I see you, Stone. You're not so slick. You knew that the only way Udoka was going to play the rookies was if he had no other options. Mad respect for the mind games.
But you played yourself, injuries happen. And good luck finding the perfect situation for Tate to land in again. Tate earned his way going to a good team but you wanted three 2nd rounders. Come on.

Brooklyn, Chicago, Portland, Toronto, Memphis, Indiana and Hawks. Those are games that could have been had with two moves, a backup big and Hield.

He needed to move Green at the deadline. Maybe the market truly wasn't there for Green, but I tend to think it was Stone not wanting to cut his losses.

What's the grade if he somehow trades Jalen Green for ... a good player?

Team is currently .44 win percentage. 24W-30L. Currently 20th among 30 teams, at the top of bottom third. If this was school, letter grade would have been a D or C-. Competition is relative to one's peers, can't be a C (average), if the standing is below average.

Rockets is injured, but so was the Grizz. Instead of excuses, we kind of have to accept the record is who they are currently. Improvement from last year, still long ways to go.

It seems like mid season grading but it is already almost 60 games played.....

so the ASB is mostly announcing the end of a season is coming.

Schools value end results, that one is true.

He should have traded both Jabrari and Jalen for a star or future stars and didn’t, so it is an F for me. Our talant is subpar and even a great coach like Udoka needs better talent to win in the NBA. Stone is a safe lawyer and doesn’t have what it takes to make a risky trade and go for it. Every trade deadline with him has been boring and disappointing.

just like when he took too long to unload Ego... it worked out that Cam fell - but that was dumb luck... Stone is failing to maximize his return by overvaluing and holding on to roleplayers too long... meanwhile we jettisoned frps to open roster spots... smh

    respectfully disagree...
if u have 2 teams with identical records...
1 is loaded with young talent on rookie scale contracts and has tons of superstar potential...
    vs
the other team is older vets on the the downside of the careers - with multi year high dollar contracts on the books for additional years...

i get record vs record... but potential is a huge factor is evaluating a team imo... not to mention where the finances are... future draft assets...

Old vets can still be rejuvenated or flipped. (just like a young players would).

Olynyk and Drummond's value were rehabbed. Jazz a retooling team. Bulls, a stucked team, still has a positive asset that other teams wanted (including people in this board).

Klay on a decline, and as of right now without an extension can be flipped for a pick or two should the GSW choose.

In fact, our team are/were buyers of said players (Steven Adams). We paid 2nd rounders for it. There are good and bad young players, just as there are good and bad vets. Having older players doesn't mean a team doesnt have a way out. In fact, potential is at times a handicap when compared to a vet even if that vet player is currently better.

The teams who are better are equipped with both draft assets and coveted / tradable role players. After Harden era, Stone only focused on the picks. Didn't get the Allen of the world. And the players we did have Gordon, Tate, or cWood, we probably sold too late.

A grade C is more than fair considering the WL record.

I give him a B-. He has done well in the draft except for Jalen Green, which was a huge swing and a miss. The jury is still out on Jabari however i think he will turn out good. Amen looks to be good although I am still concerned about his shooting but he does everything else amazingly well. He has been absolutely amazing with his mid first round picks Alpi, Tari, and Cam. I do hold him accountable for keeping Silas who did absolutely zero for this franchise except waste two years of development. It is possible to both tank and develop players. He chose to tank at the sake of developing the players. I also blame him for the KPJ fiasco.
