Just looked it up on bbref he grabs more rebounds than Chet. Also a better rebounder than Porzingis, Brook Lopez and Myles Turner.
Upon seeing your post I checked the numbers per 36 who played at least 1000 minutes to get a reasonable comparison, with alpi 1688 minutes. Sengun is 26th in the list, that matches my eye test mostly. The top 5 names in the list are Capela, Duren, Gobert, Nurkic and sabonis. A lot of people want capela, duren type big and rebounding, which you'll certainly not get from Alpi. Those are just different type of players. I am a little skeptical about jabari, sengun duos success in defense and rebounding to be honest. Both are not good rebounders from standing position. And Bari for now seems to defend outside the paint better. Maybe he'll get much better when he gets stronger. But there is a question mark about complementing each other,
My hope is amen/cam/bari/tari give you enough size/defense to make the rebounding and defense manageable, especially having amen at PG where he *should* be elite for that positive
Probably because he's discovered that most centers are unable to stop him from scoring in a 1v1 matchup. The problem is that the ones who can or do seem to really deflate him and take him out in the other aspects of the game.
I feel that Sengun might be so creative with his offensive moves that he doesn't really have a go to shot. He needs a bread and butter move and a counter move that is near unguardable 1 on 1. Every dominant offensive player has that against set defense.
Going up against one of those tonight. It's the shorter athletic dudes that give him problems. He's discovered that the high tier dudes are cones because they "conserve energy" for offense. Bam/JJJ/Hartenstein types who's sole job is to be a defender give him fits.
I dont understand whole that "he's struggling against centers with length" "oh no, he's struggling against athletic centers" kinda stuff. He had a great game against AD and had a terrible game against AD. He had a great game against Poeltl and had a terrible game against Poeltl. He had a great game against Claxton and had a terrible game against Claxton. He had a great game against Valanciunas and had a terrible game against Valanciunas. So I have no idea how you come up with the conclusion that he struggles against some type of archetype when that's the case.
The more Sengun I see the more I see someone who needs to start games at the 4 ala Pau, Duncan, KG. I love Jabari and hate to see him go to the bench but I’d like to see Sengun and Adams start a few games next year. Of course Sengun really needs to work on that 3 all offseason so the defense can’t crowd the paint, but as long as he can keep them honest I think he needs to be at least starting the game at the 4, and then play to matchups the rest of the game. (As I say that Sengun gets blown by on the perimeter guarding Jackson).
It’s year three and they still have a bunch of bums who can’t shoot and can’t play d around Sengun. Fire this GM already.
His defense is the least of our problems. Every game the opposing team triple teams him and watch the rest of the team brick to a loss. It’s insane that there’s no other viable scorers on the entire team, and the coach has to run iso for our center play after play because there’s no other creator capable of generating a shot. This means at best we are scoring 2 points if Sengun scores, otherwise it’s a brick 3 from anyone else. Meanwhile the other team is raining threes on us.
