The point of this thread is we shouldn't have a president who was alive when FDR was president. It's obvious to everyone.

    a thought experiment:

it's 2:59 am, President Biden is rousted from a deep sleep with news that Chinese missiles are inbound to Taiwan, Manila, Tokyo, Seoul, and Honolulu.

Do you have confidence he'd know what to do, and could make an instantaneous decision?

Dumbass talking point. Presidents have armies of 28-45 year old Harvard law grads behind them making sure silly mistakes don't go beyond the lecturn.

Hence why if the choice is between a paper weight and a fascist the paper weight is preferable because I see the office of president as a position that you can cause harm by expressing divisive rhetoric rather than a position that solves problems. As president you either are a tool for the status quo hierarchies in he nation or you are a divisive fascist who tries to gain popularity by targeting hate rhetoric towards those your voting base sees as enemies. Those are usually the two options presented to us. So I chose the paper weight.

Having a figurehead that is being controlled by unelected officials, that is already occurring, is is the antithesis to a democratic republic. It is much more dangerous than an idiot like Trump.

I certainly don’t think Biden makes every decision but I doubt he’s a figure head. Reagan was famous for his hands off approach to a lot of governing while Carter would micromanage. Biden is probably closer to Reagan that he sets the overall direction and leaves a lot of the details to staff.

At the same time even Biden’s political opponents such as Kevin McCarthy have said he was heavily involved in direct negotiations with Congress.

Yes because he’s already been on record stating he would defend Taiwan. Also to note that even Ron DeSantis praised Biden’s response to emergencies like hurricanes hitting Florida.

First off the opinion page isn’t the front page. Second it’s interesting when people criticize the NYT and other media for years and say they shouldn’t be trusted but then suddenly cite them as a voice of authority.

No one is saying they are the voice of authority but there is an obvious shift in left wing friendly media outlets such as NYT and CNN suddenly calling a spade a spade and not playing "hide the obvious" all of a sudden

The NYT and CNN have always had non liberals on. Bill Safire was a long time columnist on the NYT. CNN had Rick Santorum as a regular.

So maybe it is that the NYT and other sources aren’t as biased as some people claim.

Either way it’s still ironic for those who claim they the NYT shouldn’t be trusted why should they be trusted now?

It would be like if I suddenly said that the Epoch times should be trusted just because they happened to agree with me on something. Even if they did I wouldnt cite them given their history and background as a product of Falun Gong.

Also again to note the pieces cited are Op-Ed’s by individual columnists and not the official position of the NYT.

to note that even the NYT, the primary mouthpiece of the Democratic Party is suggesting it’s time for Biden to step aside.
