yeah at this point I don't see him returning before the AS break with a short week coming up next week. There's really no point now if he couldn't get on the court earlier, so they might as well take the extended break

That leaves 28 games left in the season if he plays coming out of the AS break.

We need to send a Free Tari Eason documentary & t-shirt to the NBA injury gods

This hurt my win prediction, Eason is the face of doing the little things at apex that leads to momentum swings/wins

Tari could be a difference maker versus Atlanta or NYK. I wouldn't rest him if he's ready.

Really glad we kept playing him after consistent questionable designations to start the year and have now completely wasted his season. Great job Rockets doctors!

there's been no update since they said he began more contact work.

Usually when guys are close, they list them on the injury report as doubtful, questionable etc. Then they upgrade their status to probably/available or not even on the injury report. Immediately listing Tari as out doesn't appear even close to returning. It's really looking like he'll miss these last 4 games

Let's be honest guys, signs indicate that Udoka will be the worst coach we ever had in regards to injuries. Which is saying a lot because MDA is the all time king of exhausting his players before the important rounds of the playoffs. Udoka doesn't take health seriously and he's going to lose that advantage to many teams. It's clear he treats it as though playing injured is better than being cautious. He's still a relatively young coach so I hope he wises up in that department, learn a thing or two from Spoelstra. Forcing your players through injury is no longer the winning mentality.

Since they are so guarded about Tari's injury, I have a feeling Tari played injured and it ended up requiring longer to recover. They're trying to cover for Udoka. That's my guess.

Hope to see him back asap. He's a major upgrade at backup SF and backup PF, which means he's almost as important as a starter.

I’m guessing the coach listens to what the doctors(experts) have to say, and then listens what the player has to say. If the coach gets the green light from the Doctors and the player then I don’t think the coach should be blamed for anything medical. The coach doesn’t have as much medical knowledge as the doctors, and only the player knows how they feel. I don’t think Ime has done anything wrong here.

What signs? The fact that one player has had a lingering injury since BEFORE Ime became coach? There are no signs. What you have is called a hunch.

All the coaches are supposed to do that but not all the coaches are the same. Obviously some coaches push these things more than others, and the way they do that is by implanting certain sentences about injuries in the culture and also by having a private verbal conversation with the player.

It's still the players' choice, but you know how it goes. You don't play along, your minutes will suddenly get cut short.

Come on we've heard him talking about playing through injuries and players all hesitant about saying they're injured. You're never going to get any proof because it's illegal. There are signs and they will never be conclusive the way you're asking.

Udoka is the most likely candidate. You can see it in his rotations, minutes assignments and the way players react to injury. Sengun played on an injured ankle too.

Mathloom. You are not new to the NBA. “He played on an injured (minor sprain) ankle?” WHO HASNT?! I’m unaware of any reports of players saying they couldn’t admit to injuries. We have literally one guy who’s had consistent injury issues this season and, again, that predated Ime’s tenure. Dillon got time off for his injury. Jabari got time off for his injury. Players want to play. Nobody made Şengün play through an injury. But his injury didn’t warrant rest. Minor injuries, aches and pain are part of the NBA season.

I don't know if I believe this man, I've long believed some coaches are influencing their players' decisions on injuries. Sengun's ankle wasn't good for a while that was a bad decision. Tari's situation is fishy even if it's an old injury (in fact I'm not sure that's better).

If I had to bet one coach in the entire NBA pushes players to play through injury more than everyone else, I'd bet on Thibs or Udoka.

    Would you be shocked?

Im not overly impressed with the guy other than holding the team accountable. His X's and O's suck and his roster management is even worse. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown would make just about any warm body look like a good coach. How many games have we been like "wow Udokas coaching won us this one" ??? I've actually felt like the guy has been outcoached on several occasions recently - particularly the POR game where all we needed to do was foul before the 3 point shot. He needs more "developmental time" just like the rest of the roster.

It's kind of my frustration with the NBA in general. We've gone so far away from actual strategy and play calling to where it really does come down to who has the best grip of the locker room culture, and can motivate.... which probably makes Ime look like such a better coach than what we've had.

This is also why you see such high turnover because inevitably the coach is going to get drown out in tough times.

The strategy is all the same now. Switching man to man Defense, and Read and React offense. I get that you want an exciting star driven league that emphasizes the athletic wing position athletes but good lord. Between the same plays over and over again, and the same BS calls from the ref that is worse than when they allowed the Kevin Martin/Harden sweep through calls, the NBA game can be unwatchable at time.
