Big difference in drafting a player coming off a major injury with the 3rd pick overall and the 3rd round. Also a big difference in not needing that player to have an immediate impact
23. Houston Texans (from CLE): DT Jer’Zhan Newton, Illinois The Texans could lose edge rusher Jonathan Greenard to free agency, and with that will come an emphasis on improving the defensive line. That doesn’t have to mean edge rusher only, though. Here, I think Newton is the better value player for who is left on the board. I think they’ll have both edge and interior improvement options open. 59. Houston Texans: WR Tez Walker, UNC
23) Houston Texans (f/ CLE) - Byron Murphy DL/Texas 59) Houston Texans - Jonathon Brooks RB/Texas 86) Houston Texans (f/ PHI) - Brenden Rice WR/Southern Cal 123) Houston Texans (f/ CLE) - Christian Jones OT/Texas 127) Houston Texans - Myles Cole EDGE/Texas Tech 235) Houston Texans (f/ NO) - Dillon Johnson RB/Washington 244) Houston Texans - Julian Pearl OT/Illinois 249) Houston Texans (f/ KC) - Jontrey Hunter LB/Georgia State
If this happens and I'm all on board with it happening, if I'm Caserio I'm adding an edge either in FA or rd 2.
Hell to the no - wouldn’t use a second on any of the RBs. It’s a deep WR class with top end talent and he has us picking a fourth round guy in the third IMO
Draft a RB on Day 2/3 after snagging an elite RB in FA. I can't roll with drafting a RB before the 4th.
