I think his defense went from 3/10 to 5/10. His one on one defense is probably 6/10. He took a massive leap but there are works to be done in this summer. He is a good offensive rebounder because he wants to score. To score he needs to touch the ball so he extra hustles to grab the offensive rebounds. He's a below average defensive rebounder for a center because he's not defense first guy and he needs to change his mentality. Defensive rebounds are just as important. He learned to box out but you can't box out when the paint is crowded so you need to go for it. He doesn't have verticality so he can't elevate much without taking couple steps first. He can't just jump straight up and grab it unfortunately. I don't know how they do it normally but they need to work on that. He needs to get better at ft line. He was shooting over 80% in Turkey so he has that in him. He can be a 80% shooter. If he can be a 80% ft shooter he can be a 35% 3pt shooter. I want him to grab 1 or 2 more defensive rebounds a game and improve at ft line and 3pt line next season.

Just looking at the play-by-play, Sengun went to the bench when it was 98-94. Jeff Green came in. When he came back, we were down 99-105.

But it's his fault we lost?

Looking at the boxscore, it seems like all the starters did well tonight - bench, not so much.

Unfortunately, it will be seen as his fault, because if the defense is bad in lost matches, the centers are usually blamed.

I have been following the Rockets for 3 years, although not constantly. Unfortunately, Alperen and Houston fans did not have good chemistry, I am not saying they do not like him, but he does not have a lot of credit, this is probably related to his playing style, I hope it will get better.

His energy level was very low. He shot poorly and his defense was not good. Amazing that he can put up that stat line on a night he didn't look good.

The boxscore says the bench lost the game. Sengun was 4/11 in the second half and Jabari hardly took any shots after a great first half.

Starters were +23, bench was - 38. A certain group is creating a red herring.

I think it's time for Alperen to move to the east coast where he will find more same-minded people/fanbase.

Nets would be the perfect address as County 28-Giresun people mainly live in Rochester/New Jersey area.

Get used to it, without Fvv to control the offense, Jalen is going to be shooting at will and those pocket passes to Sengun that have been the backbone of our offense will be few and far between. Luckily Jalen made a bunch of (horrible) mid range shots today but that will never last (we know his %s over 3 seasons). It’s going to be like last season all over again until Fred comes back.

Yes, Sengun will miss the pocket passes and rockets will miss fvv's controlling the tempo and not turning the ball over. Lately Sengun isn't the best version of himself, regardless of outside effects, though.

And if Green reverts to last season style more as he gains confidence, he will not do himself any favors, nor the team.

Worthless stats, but Alperen and Jabari were +8. JG was a +12...

    The starters were fine tonight.

We really need our wings to look to cut more when we are in our half court offense. Don't know if it's by coaching design or player tendencies, but our wings have been stagnant and too content to just wait on the perimeter.

No, Adam is a backup. We need a starting Power Forward who can block shots and a rebounder to help Sengun

There are players that can hold Siakam, Sengun needs to stop crying about fouls and stop playing sluggish in the paint

I know the numbers say the starters were good.
But I can see it with Alp, he looks worn down, lethargic.
Has been trending that way for a while.

Our youngsters are not good at moving off-ball anyway.

One area sengun can improve vastly is setting up his plays faster and therefore demanding the double team faster. When he takes his time, defenses position much better for help defense, making both passing out of the double team or driving to the rim harder.
