For all of those who arguing that the states can enforce border and immigration policy I get the feeling if CA, WA, MN, NY or other Democratic states decided to enforce their own border and immigration policies wouldn’t go along with it. A Democratic state like CA with a large Asian population could just decide that anyone from Asia should be allowed in as that benefits the state economically and prevent US border and immigration from enforcing those controls.
So how would you describe the border before the trigger occurs and the "shut down" is implemented? I'll help you: Wide open. 5000/day is far less than will actually come across. I'm also curious what makes you believe that the Biden Administration, who has ignored immigration rules through it's 3 years, will now start magically enforcing laws on the books? They won't. They want to create a new demographic landscape in swing states. They have laid all this out in their 2013 plan, which is public information.
Because the objective isn't to solve the problem but to stop Biden from having a solution and instead help trump get elected.
I'm glad this is happening now as a way to finally start shedding light to Americans in the middle that MAGA Republicans, and their cult Trump humpers NEVER REALLY CARED about trying to solve "The Border Crisis." This has always been about the politics of racism and using fear of brown people to use for political gain. Democrats have blocked efforts to curb illegal immigration every. step. of. the. way. for YEARS. Now they are trying to gaslight the country by suggesting that this bill fixes immigration and they are the heroes that will set our immigration approach on stable footing. No one with a brain is buying this. The real reason Democrats are advancing this awful legislation is to play the PR game because they see the immigration issue as being a top issue in the 2024 election. Without that, they are continuing their open border approach as long as they can get away with it.
