I find it fascinating why the Rockets are not just providing him with an assistant who answers the questions for him....not like it cost them that much. Spares them the PR stuff......
Jalen midrange is actually pretty good he just never uses it - look at his shot charts .. specially baseline .. his game is very 2 dimensional right now - he either shooting a 3 or trying to get all the way to rim. We all know 36 % is the mark to aim for when taking a 3 over midrange 2 … I really feel JG midrange game is better than Booker and DeRozan .. he just needs to use it more
I'll admit, it's hard to be patient with young players lol. Jalen drives me absolutely crazy on his lows and highs. Makes me feel he will never be the player we are hoping to be, a true franchise player.
I'm not suggesting he's not an NBA player. In my mind there's a pretty big gap between a player you want on your roster and one that shouldn't be in the league. I'm not suggesting he shouldn't be in the league.
Well, I was interested to see how our young guards would play against a good disciplined team, not well…lol. DD
I think he has to maximize a skill, right now he only has that speed, burst, explosion but he has no idea how to harness it..... It is like he is a demi god but nobody taught him how to harness his 1 power.......and then he can find his niche. The NBA Camp is filled with demi gods. (Percy Jackson reference)
This is not a good look for Jalen. Ime against the grain, has made you the focal point of offense in crucial times when he shouldn't have. I expect Ime to retaliate
I think if we were still in total rebuild mode and didn't owe our picks to OKC he would even still be a good project to keep working on--but we're transitioning into playoff mode and we already found a different guy we think might become the best player on a contender. Jalen should have some appeal as a change-of-scenery guy to a team either about to rebuild (Chicago, perhaps) or one right at the beginning of their rebuild (Portland, Washington). Still plenty of upside for a GM to dream on. I'm just more and more doubtful that he fits with what we're trying to do under Ime Udoka and already having identified Sengun as the most important building block.
Jalen Green stats vs Top 10 defenses this year (17 game sample size): 17.5/4.2/2.9 on .389 shooting from the field. Making 5.8 shots on 14.9 attempts. Honestly I though it'd be worse. Some people called him a front runner and that he only performs against bad teams but I think he's just kinda universally mediocre/bad. It's a little worse than his season average of 18.1/4.8/3.3 on 41.1 from the field. Everyone is going to perform slightly worse against the best defenses in the league so just kinda seems like this is who he is regardless of opponent.
The bad teams or the Lakers are usually not pressuring him at all or just half arsing ......pay him no attention..... If you pack the paint right and close the passing lanes right, Green is forced to chuck 3 pointers....and it is hit or miss...mostly miss on the road. Or he is attempting to contort his boney body to get the And 1 and mostly he looks like a fool begging for a foul.
Alpi has had some of his best games against the best players like Jokic, Lebron/AD, etc. Seems like he steps up to the challenge when it comes to proving yourself against the best. Jalen, on the other hand... Has he ever "outdueled" or at least played to a standstill a really great player like Curry, Edwards, Booker, etc.?
Jalen shoots 40% on 2att a game DeRozan 41% 7att Ant Edwards 35% 4att Kyrie 38% 4att Herro 40% 4att He’s not on Bookers level 47% 6att - but I feel he can be somewhere in between and clearly needs to up his attempts per game to unlock his next level
DeRozan shoots 41% on 7att Jalen shoots 40% on 2att Like I said he’s on par with DeRozan or better .. Yall so focused on what yall don’t like about a player and or (only 3pt %) that yall don’t look at what the player actually does well and doesn’t do enough
