Rockets would be dumb to let Houston sports media/Blogs influence them into trading Jalen Green

Any pro sports franchise that bases personnel decisions off of internet/radio opinions is not a well-run franchise.

This post has nothing to do with any particular athlete.

Misconception. He's not on a hot streak. Hes primarily getting to the rim beating his man off the dribble. When 3 starts to fall its over for the nba. Yeah parting with him would be basically handing another team a future superstar

That's the great place to be in when we talk about players reaching their apex

He's not the best/or highest upside from your lens but has chance to be a impact scoring champ (3 level)as his upside is scary to pair with Sengun/Bari and the rest of the young guns with them reaching theirs as well........organic contender in the works?

Jalen's nowhere near a bad personality. Again with the narratives

For some people, being a "good personality" simply means that they share the same hobbies as you, share the same dialect as you, same musical taste, same culture essentially.

It has nothing to do with if they are empathetic humans.

    It's called tribalism.

Consistency is the last step to becoming a very good player. Most players by 21, 22 yrs old are who they are at this stage in their careers; athletically, height and length wise. The final step is working on your body and your game to be more consistent.

Perfect example is Jokic. He was always a good passer and he could score. He just never had the stamina to play for longer periods and to be effective. He never got any faster or quicker but after he lost weight, he became more consistent.

Thanks for bringing this fresh thread on a 3 year old argument. In particular the "he's only 21" argument is completely new territory.

[He has been playing well recently; improved finishing and playing the passing lanes. Keep it up. We all have the same evidence in front of us. People aren't morons because they don't choose your preferred narrative.]

Sounds like you'd pay him the max next season. I wouldn't. The end.

It’s crazy how differently we see the game. My take is the exact opposite. Even when sengun isn’t making shots he’s still setting great screens, making good passes, keeping the ball moving, drawing double teams…our offense just doesn’t run very well when he’s not out there. He’s also our best box out guy by far so our rebounding is way better when he’s on the court despite his subpar rebounding numbers. Defensively I think there’s good and bad, his biggest issue is he offers little rim protection. So if our perimeter guys get beat we don’t really have that second line of defense. But otherwise I think he’s done alright. Jalen on the other hand is the guy I’ve noticed is completely invisible when his shot isn’t falling. He loses confidence and doesn’t want the ball, stands around, doesn’t give good effort anywhere. It’s a night and day difference when he’s got it going offensively.

Anyway I do appreciate your perspective. This place would really boring if we all agreed on everything. I enjoy reading your posts.

Jalen will either be traded or end up on the bench for Cam shortly after the trade deadline.

How is that back to his usual self?

As you being one of the 6 or 24 pack president of the anti-Green club should know that Green doesn't usually shoot 50% from the field

The offense doesn't look for him, he has to make it happen when he has the ball and may get a screen from a big

If this is the what you call Green going back to his usual self, then I imagine you have bleeding knuckles from punching the wall his previous games of dropping almost 30 on avg

What was his shot chart in those games prior? Was it his usual self or phenomenal ???

You are asking A LOT of this fan base to see beyond popular narratives. Especially ones that tap into established biases.
Suffice it to say this base has never been particularly nuanced or sophisticated. And certainly not forward thinking.

Hell, a good portion of those celebrating the Rockets' current wealth of young talent were dead also set against a full rebuild at the start.
And they complained every step of the way, continually looking for ways to cheat the process.

This is the same fan base that wanted to trade the best player in franchise history just two years before he led them to the first major sports championship in the city's history.
Patience and foresight are not particularly strong virtues among this collective.

That's why I've been impressed with Stone's full on commitment to stick to the plan despite the incessant whinging of a myopic fan base.
I just hope he has the fortitude to stay the course.

It is not hard to predict. They are shopping him now prior to the deadline. Cam is playing great and needs minutes. Most importantly they need a 2 guard who can nail open 3 pointers and that is not Jalen..

These dumb narratives are false 3 years ago or today. Maybe he's just young & maturing. The same thing ppl said about Sengun last season, he's still young give him time. Either way Jalen's having his first child & going through alot. Kudos to him. At this rate the max is the only option

I'm open to trading Jalen but still believe the Rockets should keep him unless the trade is compelling. Trading just to get rid of him, which is what many here seem to want, is just stupid IMO.

It doesn't matter what Jalen did his first two seasons. It doesn't matter how badly he played prior to mid-January this season. Something has changed the last 2 weeks and the Rockets should see what he does the final 34 games. They don't have anything to lose by doing so.

When Cam and Amen started to play a game more mature and intelligent than Jalen, his status little changed.
I agree that so early to give up on Jalen, he is 21 years old and has great potential. Problem is not about his shooting or scoring talent, he has very high potential, maybe star level potential.
But he is very bad at decision making and plays with very low basketball iq.
2 or 3 months rookie player Amen or Cam plays like experienced NBA players knowing what to do when to pass, but Jalen either shoots well or bricks ball,so one sided and tunnel vision...
I always dreamed of Jalen Sengun combo like Jokic and Murray, Sengun walks through the same path like Jokic- l do not say he is Jokic or will be Jokic, there is only one Jokic and he is world's best player, but Sengun follows same mentality- but Green prefers one sided Jordan Clarkson road map, at best...
I hope the best for Rockets and Jalen also.
Most people say our priority is backup Center, no l disagree, our priority is shooting guard.
Everymatch Sengun and Vanfleet find right people, but they can not shoot.
If in an another team, Sengun had 10 or 12 asists..
I like Jalen, but he needs to find consistency and play more mature basketball..

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, meaning you see the game your way and I see it my way. Which is ok.

However, the reason I expressed those things I see in Sengun, when his shot is not falling, is the same things that Ime says he sees, as well. Sengun tends to get down on himself. If you listen to Ime post game, he says that about Sengun whenever he has a bad game. So, the boxing out, setting picks, etc. Im not seeing them and I don't think Ime is either. And one thing I have learned about Ime, he does not mince words.

Jalen has struggled ALL season and I think the only reason he continued getting the same amount of playing time, has been his rebounding and defense. I, myself, has questioned why Ime continue to put him back in time and time again but even when his shot was off, his rebounding and defense, continued to get him PT.

Let me ask you this, who do you think have the best chance to become better on the defensive end and why?

I say, Jalen because of his speed and as he gets bigger, he will have the ability to guard 1-3, and possibly some 4s.
