Bridges instead of Green and the Rockets are a playoff team for sure. FVV/Bridges/Dillon gives the Rockets a lot of veteran flexibility moving forward. Bridges is 27. He isn't going to get a max deal or anything close to that moving forward. Here are some hypothetical starting lineups the Rockets could have next year:

    1) FVV/Bridges/Whitmore/Jabari/Sengun
    2) Amen/Bridges/DB/Jabari Sengun
    3) Amen/Bridges/Whitmore/Jabari Sengun

If the idea is to just let the young guys develop and have one turn into a superstar (Amen, Sengun, Cam) then just keep Jalen and keep drafting high upside guys in the teens. You could find another Giannis/Haliburton/Curry/SGA. Bridges gives the team more flexibility today and next year. But he isnt the be all end all and a Bridges like player is always available. Truth be told the smartest thing to do would be to just not do anything and play the year out. Call Brooklyn's bluff, put out through media channels that the Rockets offered all of their picks back for Mikal Bridges as a **** you and stay the course.

And why are people so impatient with 21 year olds? Green has a significantly higher ceiling than Bridges and a higher floor.

He's about to be 22 in 7 days. Who says he ever reaches his ceiling. A ceiling is only meaningful if you're realistically showing that said player is getting there. Year 3 still doesn't provide that. it's the same thing we've seen years before continued inconsistency and inefficient. while the other young guys around him continue to improve.

People keep trying to push out patience but year 3 has always been a significant tell on a realistic trajectory of a player. We're reaching 30 something games left in the season. Year 3 isn't that far from being over

Are you serious? Kelly Iko writes exactly what the Rockets want him to write. Nothing is ever negative unless it's something the Rockets want to be negative.

Read clutch's article about the KPJ fiasco, and then read Iko's.

Oh yeah, that's right, Iko didn't write one because you can't do it without burning the FO.

    Besides Sengun, who's stepped up?

Jabari isn't playing Green's role so his game is very simplified right now. Whitmore is basically having the scoring profile of a better shooting KMJ.

Like Ya Sengun made the leap. That doesn't dismiss that Green might take a season longer.

every single young player has stepped up. if you haven't realized that by now then your tunnel vision is your own issue

It can dismiss it because it basically means he can't handle said role.

Consistency being his biggest issue at 21 makes you want to trade for a 28 year old borderline star even if that when Green has done this:

    ?

    Seems absurd.

I'm sure he can as he's trending upwards and doing it while still shooting from three at a pedestrian level which means it's not merely some hot streak.

yeah context matters. That doesn't tell you anything about consistency and his true efficiency

He'll have some 30 point games. Then throw in a long line of duds when he shoots like 20 shots for 14 pts. Everyone has seen that for the past 3 years. that's the problem

That tweet means nothing to me because

Ya inconsistency is his biggest issue? I already said that.

That doesn't eliminate the fact that his peaks before turning 22 match that of some all time great scorers.

not exactly. his individual play might be going up bc he's been so bad for much of the season but take into account the rockets are also losing in this stretch doesn't exactly support winning basketball.

I mean he puts up a ton of shots and the biggest thing he can do on the court is score. Not exactly that impressive. Like i said context matters
