Isn't this what I been telling yall though? Jalen ain't getting traded for some mid round pick. If the Rockets are only trading Jalen for a Star level player then he's not getting traded unless randomly Haliburton (or some other star player) wants out of Indy or something. It's very hard to trade a player like Jalen because his potential is always tempting enough to keep him around. If the Rockets wanted a mid round pick for Jalen he'd be gone already. I also think this is true for any of the Rockets players too. If a star level player falls loose the Rockets would happily trade any of our young players to get them. I don't think even Sengun is untouchable, no one on this roster as of right now should be untouchable... But they are still valuing Jalen pretty high, they want a star player back, that's still a very high value they have on him.
and the team is 2-3 over that stretch. Jalen Green is a stat chaser and not a player that helps his team win games.
What is a "star-level player" in this context? Are we talking more Mikal Bridges, Dejounte Murray? Or are talking Donovan Mitchell, De'Aaron Fox level? Vague-ass statement doesn't tell us a whole lot.
The question is how many or for whom....because I would say you would need at least to pair said star player with at least 2 of the young guys...preferably 3... I would say Eason is the least attractive one but the most valuable in terms of per minute production. Amen I am not sure about....but if you keep him over let's say Green you would at least have a great defender at disposal. The wealth is great.
I agree he should reduce the volume of those shots, and wish Jabari took more. I'm not sure we can be competitive enough offensively without a better 3PT shooter next year. There are 28 players right now shooting 40% or higher from behind the arc who take 5 or more shots per game, and 20 more shooting 38% or higher. Sure, Jalen could miraculously get to that level, but I have serious doubts about that.
Jalen can probably get to 38% eventually--plenty of guys have made that leap, like De'Aaron Fox this season--but it may be years away. It is clearly going to be a long process if it happens at all.
Maybe just a precursor and dangling players for next or 2 years later....who knows ...get them salivating.
This is a great narrative that the Rockets are pushing right now, come trade for Jalen, he is only available because we are short sighted and chasing the playoffs, otherwise you wouldn’t be able to get him. Sounds like every snake oil sales pitch I’ve ever heard. In reality, Rockets are trading him because they just don’t believe in him anymore.
I love how Zach Lowe is still willing to use his brain while employed by the ESPN perpetual click bait machine. The hungry nobodies are gonna be throwing Jalen Green's name around for clout while the ones with job security know that it's not gonna happen if not for a really really big star.
It really depends on who is up for grabs and at this point I don't see any star players wanting out right now. There was some rumor this morning about Lebron wanting out, theoretically okay what would it take to get Lebron at 39 YEARS OF AGE for our young players. Honestly, if it were not Lebron, it would take not much to get that kind of player. But it's Lebron, top 5 player of all time by many accounts, just adding him to your team adds more to your team outside of the stats he puts up. Doing that would cost more than he's worth long term IMO, we make the playoffs for sure, but Lakers are no dummy franchise. They are going to gut our assets for that kind of move and for a what...1-2 year window? Eventually Lebron will be over the hill. Yeah it ain't happened yet exactly but it's going to happen eventually. His agent has denied he wants to be traded but we'll see. Ok but outside of Lebron who else has asked out or might ask out? I could see Booker wanting out soon, they keep surrounding him with old players and I could see him wanting to go to a younger team after another playoff failure. Donovan Mitchell might be looking for a larger market to play in. Houston isn't LA or NYC but it's also not...Cleveland. Rockets have a history of actually getting star players and NBA players enjoy the city, again, its no LA or NYC or Miami but its not...OKC or Utah or Cleveland or some of these other places. It's like B tier I'd say. So I don't know, I don't see many opportunities for star players right now. Most seem settled in their places. So I think the best move is to hang on to Jalen this year, see what he does with the opportunity, rather than sell low on him.
Lebron would facilitate a move for his son Lebron Junior and then we do not know how good he will be..... So it is basically a son and dad reunion theme and forking the franchise over personal motives. I doubt LBJ's real motives when he hits 40 so nope...... Let's say AD becomes available, that would be even more hilarious because dude is not showing up half of the time and then he is hurt. The only 35 yr old guy I would be interested in is Steph because dude can shoot into his 40s......tolerate Ayesha and her cooking. His shots look more like Rockets than actual Rockets. Projectiles. The hate love relationship would be crazy, imagine Dirk Nowitzki as a Rocket....same thinig.
