Ya but the Draftniks said their draft was a disaster, they didn’t follow the draft chart and overpaid, blah blah blah. Demeco and Nick hit homers in this last draft man. Bravo!!!!!
Somebody showed a chart where Caserio overpaid by 60 points on the trade chart. Great job by Caserio. But dont forget that the players picked Gibbs/LaPorta aren't great players and who knows what Arizona is going to get with 1-27. With that said I really like the WA trade. He's a culture setter in the lockerroom.
I'm reminded of how everyone was angry when Berkman was injured playing flag football at a church function. It's like professional athletes are supposed to wrap themselves in bubble wrap to please the fans.
Or how about Robert Edwards basically having his career ended and almost losing his leg playing flag football on the BEACH! Tore all three knee ligaments and sliced open an artery. https://www.patspulpit.com/2019/1/2...rs-robert-edwards-injury-new-england-patriots
*Literally* no one called their draft a disaster. There were legitimate concerns that a bad team, with a host of needs, used too much of its draft capital on an edge rusher. But most of us (yes, I was among that group) have softened for the obvious reasons. But even in the immediate aftermath, most of us were thrilled by the excitement the trade generated and fully understood WAJr was a generational prospect. And, even now, I do still lament the picks lost as... it was *a lot.*
Gibbs and LaPorta aren't great players?... Goodness. I LOVE Will Anderson. LOVE HIM! But if Detroit called and offered Gibbs, LaPorta and their first round pick for Anderson......... I would have to think *very* hard about taking that offer.
I mean.... Josh Allen was *awesome* this year. Nearly 5,000 yards of offense and 44 TDs; went 5-1 against playoff teams (his only loss, a 3-point OT game in Philly).
I wasn’t talking about you in particular, even though you did a terrific job of lawyering your position. But I literally heard talking heads and read articles predicting the Texans were giving up the 1st or 2nd pick in the next year’s draft. They were going to be awful, blah blah blah. Smart people soften their position when they realize they were wrong in the beginning, and you gave the right to as new information comes in. The world moves too fast now not to. But the two guys they got were culture setters on both sides of the ball and there was a cost for that. The squad needed a new foundation. The team going forward has enough avenues to improve the team, so building on this foundation shouldn’t be a problem. I’m just happy for the guys on Kirby that they finally look like they know what they’re doing. Lord knows that it wasn’t always the case.
