@KingCheetah ...the view of Uranus is spectacular. Glad you shared it with so many people. It really deserves all of the attention it receives.
This image shows the spiral galaxy IC 438, which lies about 130 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Lepus (the Hare). Lepus lies just south of the celestial equator (the ring around the middle of Earth that falls at right angles to its rotation axis). Appropriately, Lepus is flanked by the constellations Canis Major (the Greater Dog) and Orion (the Hunter), whilst Canis Minor (the Lesser Dog) lies very nearby, meaning that in artistic representations of the constellations, Lepus is often shown as being pursued by Orion and his two hunting dogs. https://esahubble.org/images/potw2404a/
Very Large Telescope A new view from the European Southern Observatory's (ESO) Very Large Telescope (VLT) captures the abundant star-forming region at the center of the Milky Way. https://www.space.com/eso-vlt-starry-landscape-milky-way-core
The deeper we look the more surreal everything becomes -- similar results seem to hold true in the quantum realm. (Hubble image above Webb discussed in video).
Yeah, no ****, there's big ****ing black holes out there, and asteroids, comets and other fun stuff. Yall happy? We know it already. So now it's only one or two million years from getting near Earth. Thanks for that.
Webb Spots Signs of Life on Nearby Planet Astronomers say they've spotted a possible sign of life in the atmosphere of K2-18b, an exoplanet 124 light-years away, using NASA's James Webb Space Telescope. As detailed in a new paper published in the journal Astrophysical Journal Letters, the international team of researchers led by University of Cambridge astrophysicist Nikku Madhusudhan says they've detected the molecule dimethyl sulfide (DMS) in the planet's atmosphere, which here on Earth — at least as far as we know — is only produced by living organisms. https://futurism.com/james-webb-signs-life-exoplanet-k2-18b
So is there a way to get there, now, without ****face tech bros? I'm cool with a one-way ticket to midnight.
