Loved the game by Jalen. I think it was his best game ever, because he didn't just happen to shoot the ball well - he rebounded (including offensive rebounds), passed and played defense. Alpi and he had nearly identical stat lines, by the way, but we have come to expect this from Alpi, as Calvin said in his postgame comments.
Jalen attacked immediately often tonight. It's what he needs to do. As soon as the ball hits his hands, he needs to make a move, whether that is drive, shoot, or pass. But when he catches it and holds it and waits for the defense to get set, and then decides what he wants to do... it's usually a disaster.
Great game by Jalen and Sengun, Cam played strong off the bench and contributions from everyone. Good job team and coach, satisfying win.
For yee folks who’d been trying to trade Green for a late first round pick? Supposedly to sell while you could still get something for a 21 year old who’s been asked to completely change his basketball approach, while having incredible talent! I’d rather the Rockets ride with Green and ultimately lose him for nothing, than to gift wrap him in a trade for a late 1st round pick.
Great game for Jalen. All the more reason why it should piss off EVERYONE when he has those zero rebound games like he had the other night. He has it in him to be great if he really wants it.
Same here. His first two years were completely wasted under Silas the clown. Has not learned how to play structured basketball, and developed many bad habits instead. So I have been willing to give him more time, unlike a lot of folks here. His play of late has given me hope again.
Heard an interview of Cam a while back talking about something similar - Coaches have told him to make a decision to shoot, pass or drive within a second .... don't **** around. Jalen needs to do exactly that.
But, but... Jalen is a bust, Jabari is a bust, Alperen is very small, Amen is a bust and Udoka is losing the locker room. "Two things are infinite: the universe and the stupidity of some Rockets fans; and I'm not sure about the universe." Albert Einstein
Sengun was excellent defensively one on one against AD, who is extremely tough to defend one on one. I only saw two mistakes against AD, and that will always happen with someone as big and mobile as AD. Amen Thompson was also very strong defensively minus a mid read for a layup. Jalen Green was the best player on the court. He lacks effort and consistency but today looked like a superstar. Cam Whitmore needs to refine some parts of his game - but he is special in transition.
Jalen looked better driving to the basket but can this be done consistently? Game after game after game.
