I have a hunch DeMeco might go more defensively in the first 3 rounds. I hope we snag a great pass rusher a top CB/Safety, and a WR before a RB in the first 3 rounds. But, I'd go with a great pass rushing Offensive lineman like Fuaga, who is a durable beast of a run blocker if he's available first round. That's what we need to give Singletary more openings to rush through.
I really wouldn't have a problem if they went Edge, CB, S in rds 1-3 then traded up for either Rice or Anias Smith and brought back the DT's they have a long with Barnett and used Greenard's money on Barkley and a LB.
Acouple of guys with freaky size/length and in Wilson's case speed for his size. I've got a feeling that Wilson will move up to the bottom of the 2nd/top of 3rd after the show he puts on at the combine. He could be a good fit for the Texans because of his blocking ability. I've got Paul in the 25-32 range with a good chance of moving up after the Combine. If say the Jets draft Bowers in the top 10, I could see them trading back into the bottom of the 1st for Paul.
Id like to walk out of the first 2 rounds with either Brian Thomas and Tvondre Sweat or with Byron Murphy and Tez Walker. Either way I think you'd be adding to the foundation on both sides of the ball.
Wilson is intriguing for sure…and his blocking is a huge plus..plus his size could really help in the red zone we struggled in the red zone
Think of this Sweat Rouse Johnny Wilson Trade up for Payton Wilson Aaron Wilson said re-signing Greenard was job #1 and I think they bring back Rankins and Barnett. Also I would bring back Tart as a depth piece. Edge WA/Greenard/Barnett/Sanders DT's Collins/Rankind/Sweat/Tart/Hinish/Davis LB's Cashman/Harris/Payton Wilson/ Hewitt/Too Too I think this is the type of front 7 Ryans is looking for.
Demeco said after the season ended they would use resources to upgrade the front 7. I dont think resigning rankins and greenard is what he meant.
I hope you're right, but I'm just letting you know what Wilson said. What I wonder is if Kenyon Green can play some RT. He played both RT and LT at A&M and played both of them very well. If they decided to go cheap at RT until Howard gets back Matt Nelson from Detroit and Matt Fieler are 2 guys I would look at for the swing OT position.
I just feel like Demeco has referenced better in the front on D. The D Line coach is gone, and I just think bigger changes are coming in that front 4.
As much as I want it to be a Chris Jones signing and Barnett re-sign… I could also see it being a more cost-effective approach with the trust that Demeco can get the most of of say a DJ Reader/Leonard Williams but then also snag a Danielle Hunter type instead of Barnett. Wilkins or Madubuike would be a nice consolation to Chris Jones and maybe then we go with Greenard. Other than that, I think he likes Harris to run the LB’s but depending what money is spent on front 4, he looks at Cashman/Queen/Al-Shaair. Caserio/Meco use the draft on the rest because that’s what the strengths are: WR/DB/RB/Depth.
23. Houston Texans (from Cleveland Browns): DT Jer'Zhan Newton, Illinois For this defense to truly live up to HC DeMeco Ryans' standards, it needs to bolster its depth along the line.
I could see scenario #1 and bringing Hunter home along with keeping Barnett and letting Greenard walk. I could also see them signing Williams or Wilkins, bringing back Rankins, letting Greenard walk and bringing back Barnett, plus drafting an edge like Chop Robinson or drafting a developmental edge like Okie- Anoma. We will know what they're really looking at by who they're looking at when they do Sr. Bowl interviews.
