We have a 7 footer in Jabari but he's not athletic at all. Tari, Tate, and Amen all play bigger than him. Would you give up Jabari or Sengun for the blocking center?
First off, I have made several threads about small ball killing this team and the need for a big. You can’t win in the modern day game with small ball unless you have Curry and Thompson type shooting (which we don’t) and even with that said Golden State is still taller than us. I forwarded through Sengun’s free throws last night because he doesn’t have that clutch gene at the free throw line, so it was a foregone conclusion we’d lose the game. In fairness, the only three that do on our team are FVV, Holiday, and Jeff Green. My solution is to get a legit big and start Sengun at Power Forward. I’ll get flamed for this, but I still cringe every time Jabrari takes an outside shot. He’s improved as a player under Udoka, but to me is not yet a “must” as an NBA starter. He’d bring some size off the bench for us which is needed and his toothpick frame could be more useful against backups (as he sometimes gets manhandled by stronger bulkier players).
Of the two, I would give up Sengun. The only reason being, Jabari's game is more versatile, plus he rebounds and plays defense. Sengun is only going to get buckets around the rim. Who would you choose?
I would give up Jabari (but not Sengun) for JJJ, Wemby, or Chet, but those guys are not available and are probably the only three young, rim protector types who could play with Sengun for extended minutes in the long term Jabari is probably already the fourth-best fit in the league unless somebody else emerges
Well stated. And like Ive said, Im open to whatever makes the Rockets better but just like you said, going down the same rabbit hole is not going to make them better. I proposed a bigger SF to play with Sengun and Jabari. Similar to what Denver has in MPJ and Aaron Gordon; two 6'10 forwards. Brooks is good but because of Sengun and vice versa, it makes us small along the frontline.
What?!?! He's 28% for the season and 6/28 since Christmas. There's a reason opposing teams leave him wide open. It's in their scouting report. Sengun shooting threes lets defenses off the hook. He should work on improving his FT percentage not hope to magically start making threes.
Deni Avdija is a guy I would be looking into if I were Stone. Play him together with Dillon and move Jalen to the bench (or trade him).
Omer Asik had the best year of his career in a Rockets uniform. Harden did for him the same thing he did for Capela here, Claxton in Brooklyn, and is doing now for Zubac in L.A. What made Asik obsolete was injuries and the Rockets landing All NBA center Dwight Howard the next year.
They LOVE Jalen, thats not happening. His game is in the mold of a modern day player; get.up and down the court, getting to the basket, he just.needs to improve his 3pt shot this yr. Sengun's game is unique to today's game. Other than Sabonis and to some degree Jokic, no one else is like him. An offensive center who only get baskets around the rim
I don’t remember if you were here but chat GPT guys strike me as @hakeem94, using chat GPT on multiple accounts with different twists on’em. This is the exact vibe I get from them. Bro if this was the case, almost respect.
He was widely considered to be sub-par on defense for many years. He has improved dramatically. You know who else seems to be improving dramatically? Sengun. He is SOOOOO much better on that end than he was in previous seasons.
He may cost a 1st. A player I would cover may be Alexsej Pokusevski. OKC has him playing as a backup C/PF, I think he is a SF/PF, basically playing out of position. If we can steal him for a 2nd, that would be ideal
