The ignore button doesn't change the fact that we struggle to communicate healthily and effectively. Because we've become overly attached to our own opinions, constructive dialogue has diminished. Unfortunately, debating on Sengun has become a major factor in our disregarding each other's views. In a discussion forum, it's reasonable to strive for a healthy level of debate. Without it, conversations tend to turn into monologues.
I realize that he's not the only issue, but the controversy surrounding him is a significant one. It is my belief that this debate is likely to have a detrimental effect on the team's chemistry in the locker room. Beyond that, a business-savvy front office should recognize the appropriate time to assess value, especially at its peak. I'm confident that Stone understands the situation and will build a team that is aligned with the strategy and vision of Ime. However, while I admire Sengun, I disdain the toxic discussions that surround him.
We are a top 10 defense and a bottom 10 offense. Our issue is we need to put the ball in the basket more consistently. I do think, however, we need better backup big play.
Why the tension, I don't know. We all want what's best for our team. Just as you said earlier, we need a rim protector to get to the playoffs or to take another step forward. Think if we had a rim protector or better defender along side Jabari? The Rockets have offense outside of Sengun. We need a rim protector
The biggest problem on this team isn't rim protection. It's poor shooting. We aren't ever going to be a true contender without better shooters. Our guards are so inconsistent it's hard to watch at times. We rank 26th out of 30 for FG% and 25 out of 30 for 3PT%. Sengun is more consistent than most, and I wouldn't trade him. Sure, get a better rim protector to pair with him or switch out with him when needed, but focus more on guards who can consistently play good offense AND defense. How many years do you keep hoping we will finally have a SG or PG shoot as well as others in the top 20 or 30, while playing great defense? Next year ...next year....next year.
Everyone needs to chill. We are just not deep enough to miss two key contributors. With Smith and Eason, back-to-backs become more tolerable, everyone's game becomes easier, and we beat Portland and the Nets. We'll stagger into the break, get healthy and rested, then play .550 ball or better for the remainder of the season (barring other injuries). As it is, we're using this stretch to develop depth and we certainly needed to do that. We're still a learning team with too much youth, inexperience, and inconsistency, but the more games you play, the older you get, the more experience you get, and eventually things come together.
True, they wanted to get tough hard nosed vets to teach the young guys how to work. They got this in FA at the expense of shooting.
You are absolutely right. Do you think that we should bench Sengun and bring in a mediocre rim protector, or should we trade him while his value is high to get a star rim protector?
If you bought in Gobert, the dynamic of this team will change. We will be more of a running team, faster pace, going through Jabari. Who has a mid - range game and a 3pt shot. Gobert can hit the mid range as well, so it will open up the court more. Posting up slows down the game and closes the lanes. Also, your playing more for 2's.
Bro, you will never stop the keyboard warriors. Do you forget Linsanity from a decade ago? It’s just the way of Internet forums. PS we do need a rim protector, as a back up big. Alpi cant play 48 minutes every game, and uncle Jeff is not a center.
This is the truth. hlmbasketball nailed it straight to the point. The Rockets have every weapon for offense. Our guards are excellent. If we protect the rim properly, we will become the next champion. Rockets must send brick throwers to other teams. Udoka will lead us to the finals.
State of this ****ing forum man yea we should trade our best player and left with tunnel vision Cam, bumass Jalen, can't make layup Tari and can't dribble Jabari. Combined bbiq of our young players is below 80. They are athletic, talented, they hustle but so does everybody in the league. Every team has hustlers, even better shooters, athletic gems we can only make a difference with a disruptor. All the contenders in the league has a disruptor. Okc has Shai not a Drummond. Nuggets have Jokic, Kings have Fox, Cavs have Mitchell, Bucks have Giannis, Celtics have Tatum, Suns have KD-Booker, Clippers have Harden-Kawhi-PG, Pacers have Haliburton. These teams are contenders because they have at least 1 player on their roster who shows up every night that teams have no answer for. Cam, JG, Jabari, Amen, Tari none of them are that guy. None of these guys are future Tatum, Booker, Curry, Hali or PG. You are kidding yourself if you think they are. Cam is Miles Bridges, Green is Clarkson, Jabari is MPJ with better D, Tari is Ariza, Amen is a worse version of prime Simmons a 14/9/8 type of player. They are all valuable pieces for a contender but none of them are engine. Sengun is flawed but is an engine. Makes others better, capable of dropping 20 in a quarter, can go toe to toe with the best at some nights. If we had Banchero, Morant, Doncic i'd entertain that idea but we don't have that guy so it would be extremely foolish letting him go. Claxton, Jabari, Green, Amen, Cam you are not winning anything with this 5 i guarantee you that.
So you are saying the whole team needs to be traded? Cause the whole team is quite good at layin down the bricks.
Having two rim protectors, two sharpshooters, and a true point guard should be more than enough to compete. I am on board with the strategy. If Sengun stays with the team, he could provide 10-15 minutes of energetic play off the bench.
You are completely wrong. Yesterday, Amen the suppahstarr dropped a very promising 5 points to the Nets' rim. If you support these youngs properly, Rockets will smash all other teams in the NBA.
This team needs many things. Boiling it down to one thing and pretending that fixing it will solve everything is myopic. Yea, a rim protector would be nice. So would some guys who can hit 3's. So would some maturity and experience for our young guys. So would... So would...
