No he was terrible. You’re just a jalen nut rider Solid defense LOL. His bar is just so low now that it comes to reading stuff like this to find some gimmick praise. It’s pathetic
They came back largely because the Nets missed a ton of FTs. It’s called overplaying your hand. Not only could they have used some instant O and rebounding but he rode the guys on the court to exhaustion, to the point they were missing shots due to legs being gone. There’s an art to pushing the right buttons at the right time and, quite frankly, he f’d it up. Just as they were not coached well to move without the ball for much of the night.
I agree that it didn’t seem like he was panicking, he’s playing more controlled now in the 4th than he did earlier in the season, even (the clippers game, for example) but Jalen doesn’t know how to close games properly yet unless he’s HOT and just used as the play finisher. I think that’s ok. He’s finally getting crunch time reps and although the moments might still seem a little too big for him, he’s definitely learning—though probably not as fast as most would like.
Been a rough stretch of games for Sengun lately. Maybe the All Star break will do him some good. This team sorely misses having Bari & Tari in the rotation.
Sengün has been much better than Green, so a few bad games can be excused..... But we should not deify Sengün either......dude is a border All Star, calling him a sure fire All Star is just too early.... He just does a lot of unbelievable things......mostly positive.
Man I tuned in when we were down 27 and watched the rest. It feels like I watched the rockets blow out a team.
You’re right, of course. I tend to get overly hyperbolic with my praise, and when we finally have a super promising young player like Sengun I go over the top a little too often. It’s part of how I like to have fun with the Rockets, though, so hopefully that can be excused
Jalen is fine, I only had issues with his frame and because the SG position should not be prioritized back then over a big or a versatile wing..... He is just a flashy scorer in spurts......just not a shooter. Knowing your personnel is key going forward......
Tuned into Royal Rumble to forget this roller coaster of a game. Is Tribal Chief losing the title? Can't wait to find out.
Players are taught to shoot when they’re open. He hesitated dribbled then stepped back. Should have been more decisive either shoot or drive
I wouldn’t have had any problem with him taking the shot in-rhythm or swinging it to the corner…hell, Amen shot what was a statistically bad shot but almost won us the game by making it! NBA players can all make open shots (to some degree). But as you said, Tate made it harder for himself than was necessary and that frustrated me a lot
That’s what a lot of people aren’t seeing and the criticism is unwarranted in terms of defense. He doesn’t smother opponents or gets steals or blocks but he gets down lower in his stance on defense stays in front of players and stay straight with arms contesting. He really guarded dinwiddie and thomas well in that second half
It's literally been two. Which is more than good games Jalen has had in a row this season. It's astonishing how completely different the expectations are for these two players.
This is a lot of it really. The Rockets are a poor shooting team without a current top end star and a lack of depth trying to win off defense. Missing two of their best defensive players and one of their only outside shooters has been very costly.
I also feel like he doesn’t know if he will get the ball back cause FVV has been a black hole in closing minutes … add Cam to that lineup now and whew
