There always has been - but in the past, that is where their appeal would end.

Now with twitter and other social media, they are getting attention and they get attention twice.

They get attention from what they put on social media, and then second they get attention from the opposite party because they are being used as a tool to show that the moderates in the other political party are now all extremists.

It is a very dangerous loop and both parties do it - and those that benefit from it are those that actually are extremists.

I can make up an organization and preach an absolutist opinion and eventually will get followers and can claim credibility.

It is like taking a tiny fire and pouring fuel on it.

Having a discussion online now a days is basically attempting to debate against all the fringe content you find online rather than the actual issue.

Oh some random I never heard said they want Israel destroyed? Okay how does that change the discussion that I believe the right wing government of Israel is commiting an active ethnic cleansing?

Debate the person in front of you, not the most random outrage bait extreme voices you believe agree with your debate opponent (message for ATW, not you Nook. You are good at debating the actual poster in front of you)

Also my logic applies to only randoms. Now if a political leader with power says something unhinged, that's different. That's actually relevant.

Can you with a sincere attempt review my "fringe" beliefs about the conflict in Israel and Gaza?

Because woke media doesn’t care about Black people unless it affects an election

It is kind of a strange question. Certainly the Boko Haram terrorist group is horrendous. They have been active for quite some time.

But the question is being asked almost as if there would be a reason to protest in the streets of London. Is the govt. of the UK funding them? Are there many governments giving them support and aid a part of their official policy? Are they part of major alliances and trade organizations?

It would make sense if there were memorial gatherings for the victims of Boko Haram, and perhaps it's sad that there isn't. But I don't think there is a reason to protest in the streets of London. The whole question in Xeet seems like it is coming from a strange place or from someone who isn't knowledgable.

Are they an isolated phenomenon or is there something they have in common with:

    • ISIS
    • Hamas
    • The Taliban
    • Abu Sayyaf
    • Al Qaeda
    • Hezbollah

    to name just a few.

One thing all of those have in common is that they hate Jews and America. And their religious ideology.

You know who else hates Jews and America?

    Woke leftists.

So not really related as to why people would or wouldn't be protesting these groups on the streets of London.

The antisemitic protests in the streets of London are not about the UK (in whatever way) funding Israel.

They are pure expressions of hate against Jews, something many Muslims get indoctrinated with from their earliest childhood.

If you’re fed a constant stream of media about outrageous and offensive things done by people with much of it of questionable veracity it almost inevitable your own positions will become more fringe.

Completely agree - and it is a vengeful cycle and boundaries and norms change. It’s very scary.

This is all accelerating with the algorithm.

30 years ago, you needed AM radio personalities like Rush to broadcast views that weren't "mainstream." Murdoch also cornered print and broadcast when internet started to eat margins that weren't licensed or catered for global distribution.

Much of the 2000s has been centered around the lost blue collar workforce that was never resolved since the rust belt and made more apparent with the Great Recession. We've made more strides with forcing foreign manufacturers to build domestically but wage costs realistically point to Mexico for dumb dumb muscle work.

Our cultural standards have watered down since the time I graduated HS in the 2000s. Many kids dont want to grow up to be doctors or firemen anymore. Some think they can make it a Youtube/social media influencers. I guess the Kardashian OF path to stardom is a backup.

There's a lot of slick money sloshing around the upper classes that make lower class incentives to rise higher for longer more difficult. It's all about getting things as easy as possible or tearing down others more privileged or Elite. I guess that's rot that comes with a country that doesn't face true hardship, where future out of control debt financing and easier reelection chances override eating and resolving financial pain right now.

The nation, state, local, and individual levels pretend to be rich and successful yet are heavily indebted. That front makes them less generous and less empathetic to others while looking for flaws and opportunities among others to exploit. Social media makes it worse or feeds polar extremes, but it's more telling that fake digital groups hold more influence than physical gatherimgs that's more real and rewarding.
