OT worth changing the running game might be available at 23. Probably gone: 1. Alt 2. Fashanu 3. Fuega Probably gone, but possible: 4. Latham 5. Mims Probably there: 6. Guyton 7. Morgan 8. Paul Others will need to shift to the interior in the NFL. None of these are likely there in the 2nd Round.
Ok, and you can guarantee all of these are better than Patterson/Ky green/Kd green? And not just better, but better by such a margin that we don’t take any other position with that first pick?
I can't guarantee anything. I have to rely on reports which are only as good as the guy whose opinion is being given. Can you guarantee any of those will be healthy this year? I doubt it. I'm focusing on OT since someone will have to take the rotation while Titus Howard heals. It is in a traditional run role over the LT Blind side protection role. If I'm recalling right, Shaq Mason rates pretty good in the run game.
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft...nging-weapons-broncos-replace-russell-wilson/ Has us drafting Mims
Drafting one of the OT's listed isn't wasting picks. The question is do you pick a WR or CB/S or an edge in the 1st and an OT in the 2nd? If it's me and one of Thomas/DeJohn/Legette are there I'm picking one of them and trading up in the 2nd for a OT like Foster. Then drafting a RB in the 4rh and adding a RB in FA.
I agree, drafting a good OT if available isn't wasting picks. If Fuega was still available by some stroke of luck I'd be up for snagging him 1st round. Otherwise, I'd be fine with a top CB, WR, or great pass rusher if we don't sign one in FA, which I'm not holding my breath on. Is Taliese Fuaga The Incredible Hulk Of Offensive Linemen? 6'6" 334 LBS Large Frame with thick Calves, Legs, thighs, and proportional massive build. Built to last, never missed a start. Devastating run blocker. He explodes out of his stance quickly or has an excellent pad level—total domination at point of attack on combo blocks, base blocks, and down blocks. Perfect gap power scheme fit. It is a fluid mover, dancing bear out in space on screens and pulls. Zone, blocks, easily reach the second level, and maintain good leverage. He explodes out his stance to reach the Pass pro set point very fluidly. Heavy Hands and impressive strength stall bull rushes. Also, his hands are swift and precise when striking rushers. He keeps his head up to see what he is hitting. When he has no one to block, he finds work to provide extra protection for teammates. https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2024/01/26/2024-nfl-scouting-report-taliese-fuaga/ I love the built to last part, especially with our group of injury riddled offensive linemen who were constantly missing games. Beef it it up with some depth!!!! Make some holes for our running backs and give CJ better protection in the future!
Was looking at Malik Washington's highlights yesterday. Might be worth a pick in the middle rounds as a slot receiver. Not sure why he hasn't gotten more buzz. I guess like Tank Dell it's due to his size. Washington reminds me of a step slower but much more physical version of Zay Flowers. Almost like having a Devin Singletary at receiver, because he can run through arm tackles or even just flat run over corners. Will be interested to see him at the east west bowl next week.
I was just reading the profile for Kenyon Green from the 2022 Draft Buzz. He appears to be the Run First OT which has to move inside to G. Optimal position would be RG where Shaq Mason starts. This COULD make a good rotation slot for the Run Game with a run first RT to rotate with Titus Howard. Mims or Lathum have to be considered if they are there at 23 because the depth at DT/EDGE and WR in the 2nd permits this. DB appears to be a wild card in the draft.
It appears Jacob Cowing of Arizona is a slightly taller, but still thin jitterbug separator who runs good routes too. I'd love to have another Tank in the room.
If he's there in the 3rd, I'd take a long look at Maason Smith from LSU. I think he represents good value there atca position group of need. He's probably best suited in a 3-4 but think he could work as a 4-3 DE too in the mold of Calais Campbell. He could allow the Texans to franchise Greenard for a year, develop Smith in order to let Greenard walk if a deal can't be worked out.
More of the latest Texans first round pick projections.... 23) Chop Robinson EDGE PENN STATE • JR • 6'3" / 254 LBS 23. Houston Texans (from CLE) Byron Murphy II | DL | Texas 23) Houston Texans (From CLE): Jared Verse, EDGE, Florida State 23) Houston Texans (From CLE): Cooper DeJean, CB, Iowa I'd still like grabbing Taliese Fuaga if he's still on the board when we pick. I doubt he will be though. It would be great to have a beast of an offensive lineman who is not only a devastating run blocker, but is so durable he never missed a game.
Hopefully they get a differencemaker at WR and a RT/RB in the 1st 3 rds. Then you get the best out of Stroud. I've got 1. Thomas 2. Rouse 3. Irving
