NH does their primaries better than most states. Its an Open to Unaffiliated Voters state. You want to be registered as non-affiliated to provide the flexibility of voting at the poll. The (unaffiliated) voter declares which party primary they are voting for at the poll. This is how it should be done across the board. There is no incentive (unless a person is committed to a party) to register for a particular party. What your 45% number tells me is that 55% of NH voters are mindless people who need their party to tell them how/what to think. Ultimately what I am saying is Haley is going to get destroyed in any closed primary state.

Registered Democrats can not participate in Republican primaries (and vice versa) As I stated in a previous post, for the vast majority of voters, its stupid to be affiliated to a party. They lose all the flexibility and gain nothing. Open to Unaffiliated Voters states is a good gauge to determine a percentage of a parties base who can't think for themselves. Hmm... it was just a coincidence that you repeated trump's claim about Democrats voting in the primary. Of course, those Democrats would have had to not register as a Democrat to do so months ago. Unaffiliated, or Independents (that mythical animal that many republicans claim to be even on this chat board) can vote in the NH republican primary. And as far as I know, have been able to do so for years.
