I agree with you, but he needs to play with Amen not FVV. After seeing the quick progression of Amen and Cam, I am regretting the FVV contract which I think there is no way to unload until after next season or if we are extremely lucky at next year’s deadline.
Amen is not ready to be a starting PG on a good team. And Udoka doesn't believe in rushing rookies into big roles. FVV having one more guaranteed year here is the right timing. If Amen breaks out sooner than expected, then FVV's expiring could be a useful trade asset too. Or if Amen's shooting miraculously improves to league average, then he could even be our future starting SG with Cam and Tari and 6th & 7th men off the bench.
I’m a big Amen fan but even I know he’s not ready to be starting at PG. His shooting and handles are poor which leads to turnovers. Everything is a rush to some people.
Patience! Amen isn't ready to start this year. Perhaps next? But let's wait and see. FVV has unlocked Sengun this year (most assists from one player to another in the NBA). There is no point taking away from Sengun - give him another year of growth with FVV before making a move. It might be that we can package FVV and picks at the deadline next year for a star? He has the matching (expiring) salary next year. I don't see how he hurts...
FVV's contract will be easily tradeable over the summer or next year. Remember, the 3rd year is a team option. Right now, he's seasoning Amen, Cam, Jabari, Tari with his all-business, take-no-prisoners attitude on playing in the NBA. The nursery environment where the kids ran amok had to be nuked and FVV (besides Udoka himself) is the primary teacher.
You say that like it's a bad thing. I agree the shaky handles are a concern, but fixable. "Wing with PG vision" is extremely valuable though.
I was not suggesting Amen should start this year. I was suggesting that Cam stay on the bench with Amen, but they both get more minutes. FVV and Jalen should play less.
The two Jeenathan Only Fans can come out of the closet now and start a Jeenathan Williams is the Rockets franchise player thread.
