I disagree with the assumption that Cam can't see the whole court or lacks BBIQ because he focuses on scoring. I think he has good self-awareness and plays to his strengths which is the number one sign of BBIQ. He seems to be good at making his reads and getting quality shots. I don't see him making many plays that a coach would disagree with.
The DD curse strikes again. We should all be thankful he still loves KPJ more than any other current Rocket.
Cam needs to be instant offense off the bench. The problem is we do not have a legit starting SG. Either trade for one now or give up any chance at the playoffs this year. Whatever they decide Amen and Cam need to be getting over 20 mins a game the rest of the year.
I'm kinda here too. KPj was like this as well. Their mind works one way. For all his faults, Jalen Green is a more natural playmaker than Cam is. Cam just seems the much better NBA level scorer however so it might not matter. Josh Christopher just sucked.
He plays within himself, mostly. He does take the occasional poor shot, but most of his shots are at best lightly contested. He should be starting over Green, but we aren’t really about winning it seems. DD
Agreed. If you ignore the superior athleticism, measurables, shooting, finishing ability and overall prospect upside, he's exactly like Josh Christopher.
I don’t understand the weird fixation some of you have on Cam’s playmaking. That’s not his role. He’s a play finisher. Let him be Jaylen Brown or Miles Bridges. We have FVV, Amen and Sengun to fill the role of facilitators. The 22nd best offense and the least efficient backcourt in the league. We clearly need a scoring punch.
Cam Whitmore is so much better than most people realize yet....that finish, that athleticism, that force and aggression - yep, he is gonna be very good. DD
