From what I heard is that the IDF rigged the homes with explosives and a Hamas fighter fired an RPG round and the combo of the rpg round detonating inside a compound rigged with explosives created a massive explosion.
Eh I'm pretty sure the official IDF claim is that they were rigging explosives on "condemned homes" aka homes that have been damaged by ordinance drops but weren't completely leveled and a Hamas insurgent shot an RPG into one of the compounds causing a chain reaction that created a massive explosion and massive collapse of buildings with soldiers in it. Let me tell you no Hamas patrol of fighters with rpgs can kill 24 Israeli soldiers. It requires a massive explosion to accomplish that.
Also the IDF called the insurgent a terrorist but that's kinda odd to me. There are many insurgents in Gaza that aren't even part of Hamas firing at IDF soldiers. If they never were involved in the Oct 7th attack targeting civilians, then they aren't terrorists. Their target was a military target. Therefore they aren't terrorist. It would only be an assumption that were involved in Oct 7th. Israeli government estimated an incursion of 1000 Hamas terrorists on Oct the 7th. There are 2.1 million Palestinians in Gaza(well less now I guess). Good chance most fighters in Gaza right now weren't involved in Oct 7th. They are just fighting what they see as a invading force.
