Yes, even before all of this, his contract was smartly constructed in case he would run into trouble, whether that trouble sought him or he made trouble.....

He would run into trouble at least once a year.....or in the offseason.

I still agree with every word in this article by @Clutch 100%.

@DaDakota, please stop being disrespectful to @Clutch by continuing to deny the facts correctly laid out in his article.

No one is denying what he did as a Rocket - those were offenses that should have been dealt with, and would be under Ime.

That is a weak organization and a weak coaching staff not doing the right thing.

That being said, he was maturing, was getting better, and I wanted to see him with a proper coach, he is better than Jalen - and that alone - makes me wish we kept him.

And ATW - that is weak, you are trying too hard when you were the one calling out @Clutch directly for his take on Sengun.

I ain't calling out anyone, just saying - I would have done it differently.

This plea deal is a way for both parties to get it off the court docket and for no record to be there going forward.....they both save $100s of thousands.

Today's injury report: DaDakota tore his Achilles tendon jumping back and forth between his previous and current hot takes.

DD. Sorry man but you just aren't right here. Not sure what made you look at this situation, and outcome today and think this was appropriate. There's no looking at this situation, and seeing a situation where KPJ did not engage in some level of assault against his girlfriend. This is only a situation where NY looked at the situation and concluded the following:

-Going to trial will suck up a ton of state resources
-The prosecution messed up on some facts that could hang a trial jury
-This is likely more of a civil court damages case for his GF to be compensated
-NY's political mandate is to not fill up Rikers, but to try and change behaviors

So it's not like there's no reason to believe that KPJ is innocent, and it was all just a Hoax.

I don't know about you (well I guess we do now), but I do actually care about the Rockets organization from a "bigger than basketball" perspective. I care that the athletes and organizations I root for are at the very least not abusive people, or criminals. They don't all have to be Larry Bird's, but I do there is a baseline of decency that makes it easier to root for this team.

I find most of your takes on Rocketswatch to be much much more pragmatic and while often incorrect... still enjoyable to hear out. But man.... you lost me on this one DD. Disappointing take to see man.

Smart to trade him when we did. Now he isn't our responsibility once his record is deferred. The league can't say we cut him for no reason.

It's time for the Rockets to sign him now that he's been cleared of the false charges. This changes everything for the trade deadline. He's a much better option than Holiday and Tate off the bench and they don't lose any assets by signing him.
Bulllshit.. and nothing DD said was "inappropriate." TF is wrong with y'all. KPJ made mistakes just like everyone here has. If he assaulted his gf then NY DA shouldn't have to LIE and create false charges against him. The Rockets jumped the gun and should have waited until the outcome of the trial. The stuff KPJ did and didn't get punished for as a Rocket, that's on the staff. Discipline is necessary when stuff like that takes place. Especially when dealing with young players. But for people here to say a 23 year old isn't maturing is bullshit. I don't believe KPJ would have done any of that with Udoka and veterans on the roster. If he did he'd be dealt with. SIGN HIM UP. Rockets can get the type of player they need without having to give up any assets. I hope KPJ is suing the **** out of NYPD and the DA for creating false charges and narrative that ruined his representation.

He didn't get acquitted. He made a plea deal because he did something to his girlfriend. That's not "maturing".

Always baffles me athletes in particular escape serious punishment and actually get off way too easy. Just pay some money and done.

Yeah, I remember that time I got pulled over with weed and a gun in my car, and those times I hit women. There was also the time I got pissed at my boss and drove away from the conference at lunch time. Not to mention my numerous high school and college suspensions.

Except... none of those things actually happened because I'm not a psychopath.

"false charges" involved the broken neck claim from what I recall. The evidence seems pretty overwhelming he still beat up his girlfriend, and the plea deal reflects that fact

Everybody deserves a second second chance. Kpj will probably need many of those.

Get out of here with your facts and evidence! The KPJ Apologist Society is in session right now.

DD needs to move to California where he would have been arrested, released and never charged. So sick of criminals, especially rich criminals, never facing serious consequences.

One thing is certain. KPJ is going to be an NBA roster again. When that happens he should be a Rocket. I'd much rather see him come off the bench than Tate and Holiday. They can always trade him later if necessary, but he should be a Rocket first. It's the right thing for the organization to do. Whatever he did prior to this incident, the staff allowed him (and Jalen) to get away with it. However, I'm pretty sure having to spend this much time away from the NBA was a big wake up call for him. He knows now that everything he has can be gone in an instant. He's been away and sees how much Sengun and Jabari improved. I've always wanted to see how KPJ would player under Udoka so I hope they sign him up.
