The New York Knicks are primarily dangling the expiring contract of Evan Fournier, young asset Quentin Grimes, and draft pick compensation for a potential upgrade, league sources told HoopsHype. The Knicks are doing their due diligence and looking at various players across the league, including Hornets guard Terry Rozier, Blazers guard Malcolm Brogdon, former Tom Thibodeau favorite Alec Burks, sources said. In addition, the Knicks are surveying the trade market for a backup power forward, league sources told HoopsHype. Source: Michael Scotto @ HoopsHype Lol I did not just think of Jae'Sean Tate....
So a three-team is the trade here. HOU gets Grimes NYK get Burks DET gets Green Detroit liked Green pre-draft, plus their specialty is #2 pick reclamation projects. Maybe 3rd time is the charm, after the Bagley and Wiseman FAILs Reunite Green with Silas, he can shine again on a losing trash team.
i wouldn’t trade green for grimes. Grimes is going to be a good shooting role player, but I don’t see a potential starter. I think you need to get either a solid draft pick or a young player you can project to being a starter if you are trading Jalen.
i'd do the poopoo platter for grimes... (tate, holiday, etc... 2nds...) i may be willing to take back EF... i'd need something more to include Jalen though...
Grimes a much better shooter. Starting playoff experience. Better fit for Rockets. Home town kid that might want to stay for discount.
I’m down on Jalen, but I still wouldn’t essentially trade him straight up for Grimes. There’d have to be more.
I would love to get Mitch Robinson to back up Alpi. I know he is injured, but I saw him shut down both Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen pretty much by himself. If we could swing something for Mitch Robinson and maybe Evan Fournier (and perhaps Grimes), I would like it.
Last year he was a solid starter on a 47 win team with productive numbers. This year he’s fallen off some though possibly due to an inconsistent role with the Knicks glut at guard and he’s still playing solid D and hitting 37% from 3. Offensively some of what he does off ball would pair well with Sengun. He’s not a sure thing to recapture last season and in the same boat of clock ticking on an extension but I’d much rather have him starting than Jalen.
How about Q, Mitchell Robinson (who's due back from ankle surgery in 1-2 months), and a late 1st rounder for Jalen?
I don't know if I'd do it, but this would work cap-wise: I don't know what happened to Fournier, but at some point, he was a pretty good 3-point shooter.
id prob pull the trigger on that... not certain - but prob... im assuming JG's present value is a mid frp... so im gettin grimes to drop from a mid to a late... and then Rob is a bonus...
