The evolution of this thread to "**** on Jalen to hype Cam" is unfortunate. (and microcosm of our 'mean girls' cliquey fandom....sad) I LOVE what I see from Cam. But is he ready to play 35 MPG consistently w/out hitting the rookie wall? Role players (Jaquez Jr.) & Savants (LBJ) are the 2 archetypes not prone to the wall. Cam shoulders a large offensive burden during his minutes so I consider them more impactful and higher leverage than a role player. Cam's improved this much, this fast, why would we change his trajectory? If a month ago we were offered this Cam: ~ 20 mpg, 14 ppg, 4 rpg on 40% 3's Not only would we all have jumped at that we'd talk nonstop about how we got the steal of the draft. And my word means nothing but FFS can we ROCKETS fans stop eating our own? If Jalen-bench-Cam-starting gets more wins I trust Ime to make the move. And not to disrespect anyone's basketball knowledge but y'all should too.
And? Cam was gassed after a back to back. Rookie gets a pass based on what he's shown so far. He'll bounce back
Bro, 19 year old being gassed? Seriously? Anyways, I like Cam but there was SO much pounding of the table for Cam to start before last night. Just pointing out there hasn't been an ounce of discussion on his performance for his first career start, which is a noteworthy event.
He didn't play well offensively and still needs to improve his hustle and defense, however I don't think that's how many people envisioned his first start would go...No Fred, No Bari...Going against the best team in the NBA right now...Jalen and Dillon having a chuck fest going a combined 15-40 from the field. I wouldn't start him if they were to bench Green, I'd start Amen but I wouldn't hold this game against Cam as some sort of indictment against him starting. He'd still be a better option than Jalen right now.
He was pressing and likely tired from yesterday. Nothing much to say. Still the future at the 2 spot. Today is more about Amen who is a ****ing dude.
He was kinda invisible yesterday. Didn't get many touches and when he did he just launched it. He does really need other players to get him in position to score. Or else he is kinda directionless
In terms of BBIQ, Amen is ahead of Cam. Amen has the instinct to see the whole court rather than just the rim and the guy in front of him. But Cam is younger. So he has time to catch up if he has the work ethic to work on it.
