Slowik, is a very good QB coach, but he has a ways to go as an OC....

Norv Turner was a very very very good OC... But not a head coach. Same goes with Buddy Ryan, very very good DC but not a good head coach..

You're definitely right. Slowik needs to time to grow and get some experience. Caserio will get this team better roster wise.

    Rewatched the Texans offense.

They just don't have the skill players outside of Nico to hurt the Ravens when they bring pressure and win quick.

No running game to speak of.

CJ didn't have a chance out there on 2nd/3rd and long.

Overload pressures to one side and dropping players in to hot lanes.

They were also blitzing safeties to annihilate our guards off their blocks to create immediate car crashes/interior pressure.

Its a beatable defense if you have the talent on the outside.

Here's the rundown on the run calls:

    Run for No Gain
(15:00) (Shotgun) D.Singletary left guard to HOU 25 for no gain (J.Clowney; M.Harrison).
    1st & 10 at HOU 25

    -1 Yard Run
    (7:56) D.Singletary left tackle to HOU 35 for -1 yards (J.Madubuike, B.Washington).
    1st & 10 at HOU 36

    Run for No Gain
(3:22) D.Singletary right guard to HOU 45 for no gain (J.Clowney).
    1st & 10 at HOU 45

    7 Yard Run
    (9:10) (Shotgun) D.Singletary left end to HOU 31 for 7 yards (K.Hamilton, R.Smith).
    1st & 10 at HOU 24

    Run for No Gain
(8:08) (No Huddle) D.Singletary left guard to HOU 33 for no gain (K.Van Noy).
    3rd & 1 at HOU 33

    2 Yard Run
(0:51) (Shotgun) D.Singletary left end pushed ob at BAL 29 for 2 yards (B.Stephens).
    1st & 10 at BAL 31

    -3 Yard Run
    (11:31) D.Singletary right tackle to HOU 29 for -3 yards (R.Smith).
    2nd & 3 at HOU 32

    1 Yard Run
    (10:10) D.Singletary up the middle to HOU 37 for 1 yard (J.Madubuike).
    1st & 10 at HOU 36

    16 Yard Run
    (8:47) D.Singletary up the middle to BAL 39 for 16 yards (R.Smith).
    2nd & 7 at HOU 45

After this point, the game was effectively over. The Ravens took a two touchdown lead and never looked back.

I know CJ was straight up not having a good time, but he's what got you here. Dance with the girl what brung you.

If you put all the false starts and dead run plays together, I have serious doubts that any QB could have won that game.

I was going to go back and look at the same thing. At one point in the second half the announcer said the average distance on third down was 10 yards. Then it got worse, so I think the average third down for the game was over 10 yards.

The o-line false starts, o-line lack of run blocking, and Slowick forcing the run all made it impossible for CJ to have any reasonable down and distance. Plus those runs wasted a down where he could have thrown a short pass.

I can't put this on CJ, he was still able to keep plays alive by sliding or rolling out, but he just didn't have time to complete long passes.

Slowik’s playcalling held this team back the whole season. The Carolina loss, for example, is on him. 1st down runs for no gain are the dumbest plays, CJ was bailing out the offense from behind the sticks all year.

I'd prefer he stay but I also would be more devastated if we lost Frank Ross than him.

So is Slovik still a hot target after that dumpster fire of an offense yesterday?

not saying I agree, but the argument would be those runs for no gain enable CJ to ball out by forcing defenses to commit

A no gain play is somehow responsible for enabling the offense later on? That's the dumbest **** I've ever heard.

Nothing worse than a coach who wants to prove (his scheme) not the players make the diff.

Carolina game prime example - coming off bye week, Carolina worse run defense in game … Slow takes ball out of CJ hands and believes he can get our running game going against Carolina

Reminds me of Obrian, Fisher, Payton etc etc

^ trio would try and turn Lamar Jackson into a pocket passer

I’m convinced we have the dumbest fan base ever. Not to mention maybe the most fair weather fans of all.

What we did with this offense this year is nothing short of a miracle compared to where we came from. Massive amount of injuries and rookie play caller/QB combo to boot.

Imagine thinking you want to mess the trajectory we are on despite all the variables that were working against us this season. Truly fascinating to watch.

    Exactly.
On top of thinking Johnson with no experience over QB coach would come in and do better.
Slowik is trash but Jerrod can do what he can? Make it make sense.

Losing Slowik would hurt CJ, end of story

Would Gary Kubiak be interested? If he can turn a qb like Schaub into a probowl qb imagine what he would do with an elite talent like CJ.
