Because the team is better with Cam starting and Bullock backing him up than with Green anywhere on the court. Jalen is a net negative on both ends. DD
Trade him now and the narrative can be the coach/system is why he's struggled. GM's can go back and watch tape from previous years and feel he just needs a change of environment. Value preserved. Wait until next season and there's a chance he becomes a negative asset. He could become disgruntled. Even worse, he could get injured. Long story short - if the Rockets keep him past the deadline and he continues to play this way then Jalen could be a problem. Rockets struck gold with Sengun/Tari then getting Amen and Cam in the same draft. And despite popular opinion here I'd be all for them re-signing KPJ if the charges are dropped. He's always been the better player. They should cut their losses with Jalen and move on.
Better to wait and see where the Brooklyn picks lands and trade him then. No reason to trade him now. Chance he finishes strong and some team out there gives him the Christian Wood "I can fix him" treatment. He needs to go though. Regardless of how he performs. I've seen enough. Even if he puts it together he will end up the same again next year playing shitty for half the season and will turn it on when it's the end of the year ans we're barely a play-in team. Would trade him straight up for Bridges. Not for Grimes.
Garuba & Josh were some bad picks for sure. Maybe one of the reasons the Rockets covet Jalen more than he deserves or earned? What happens to Jalen will add 500 pages to the GARM in the first 24 hours after the news breaks, whenever and whatever that is. Wonder if the Rockets FO saves face or gets roasted.
I always think that the big picture here is still that he is only 21 years old soon to be 22 and in his third year. There have been a lot of headwinds and flaws in his development and obviously he is culpable for many of these. Some of them, he is not. I’d rather start Cam or Amen. And I do think those two receiving more minutes via a trade or a move for green to the bench is probably in the best long-term interest of the organization. but I really think that green this year is the best he has been, and has made improvements pretty much everywhere outside of shooting….specifically finishing at the rim. In regards to that, though, over the last 10 or 15 games I almost think that he has improved in his driving. You are starting to see a little bit better footwork and the ability to gather the ball and bump the defender off a little bit. Problem being he still loses the ball a ton. I can still see him fetching a low lottp pick around draft time. Some team, thinking they can make a few tweaks to develop him more and lock him in for a decent contract.
I don’t remember what the Kings ended up getting back in return for Marvin Bagley, but I think we all know what time it is for Jalen Green if this keeps up Stone doesn’t know when to let go tho, so I could see a 4/90 deal with Green with a non-guarantee or TO thrown in there somewhere
I just don't see Jalen do anything (other than jump high)that a million other players in the league couldn't do if you let them have 15 shots per game. Seriously, somebody tell me what he does that you can point to as something to build on right now? Does he beat people with a first step to suck in defenders, run a great PnR, shoot well off screens, dead eye shooting, finish well around the rim..anything. I just don't see it, to the point where I saw people in the game thread complimenting him for not f**king things up in OT. He gave the ball to somebody else and got out of the way...wow, amazing.
Both Wiseman and Bagley had an injuries that stunt their growth and was in the team they couldn’t really had a ball. Jalen is one of the highest usage rookie NBA has seen so he showed everything he could do so I think we might even get less return
I have not seen this, I see him driving into the lane without really knowing what to do, i have seen him dribble into a double team he seems out of control once he goes into the lane as if he has not thought out what he is going to do once he is there. He seems to get blocked a lot or turns the ball over. I do not see guys get blocked as frequently as he does, he just has no clue on how to finish. This was not something that stood out in previous years, something just seems off the way he has regressed. Assuming he has lost confidence and maybe overthinking things and lacks the IQ to do what Ime wants him to. If he was just missing jump shots it would be one thing, but it is how he is making low IQ moves once he is in the paint that is concerning. Other teams have also had a chance to scout and he does some predictably boneheaded things.
I think the Bagley was traded because contract negotiations broke down. His dad or whatever claimed the Kings weren't using him correctly and was stunting his growth and low balling him. It'd be interesting to see what Stone will offer green and what Greens camp will negotiate
Jalen showed some promise his 1st 2 seasons…Idk what he was doing over the summer, but he somehow managed to get worse and is now basically embarrassing himself out on the court that appearance on Paul George’s podcast looks so bad right now…All that talking to come out playing like this?
