Without a doubt but go look at all the games they won in that series. Pressly was huge.

I agree with you about Pressly’s importance in the 2022.. For his career, I believe Pressly has a 0.00 postseason ERA. That’s ridiculous and incredibly impressive.

The Astros’ bullpen was instrumental in the team winning the 2022 World Series.

Maybe elite is a poor word choice, but if that's your 4th best, and 6th inning reliever you are good.

FYI, I agree Montero was better than anyone gives him credit for over the second half last year, but I still expect 1 or 2 of the other options - whether it's Coleman, Sousa, or even Whitley or Garcia -to step up and earn that #4 spot reducing the pressure on Montero even more. I think Montero will be fine but I am excited about some others.

This could end up looking like the 2021 trade deadline all over when suddenly half the bullpen are guys that are new to the team and a huge improvement

Getting Hader is by no means an indictment of Pressly. While its easy to predict that Pressly may not be as effective going forward, he could also benefit extremely from less wear/tear and not having to be "the guy" for every possible save situation where he's available. Last year, he had some 3 games in 3 day stretches (along with some occasional 4 in 5 game stretches) that ideally you'd like to not have to ever subject a 35+ year old to that sort of workload.

But its a great problem to have to figure out "who's going to close it out" when you have extremely good options... one in the prime of his career and one who has historically done it as good as anybody.

Actually if Chas doesn't make that catch, Realmuto is probably on 2nd, maybe 3rd and Phillies are still down by a run with only 2 outs left in the game.

Mancini's play in the 8th is the play that saved the game. If he doesn't make that play, the score is tied with a runner at 2b (maybe 3b but probably not w/Schwarber running and Tucker in RF) and 2 outs in the 8th inning and Hoskins coming up.

It was a team win. Many things had to go right.

    You are right.

That's why I love baseball. No player, no matter the role impacts the game as much as other sports. A true team sport.

A pitcher can throw a perfect game and the game could still be tied 0-0.

A hitter could hit 5 HR and a team still lose 6-5.

No matter what ANY player does, he must rely on his teammates to also perform to win a game (except maybe healthy Ohtani)

I said he got my vote right after the series was over. He had virtually no room for error and he shut the door. If I was the manager I would tell both of those closers they could be used any day to close out a game it's all going to be matchup contingent and they'll both get plenty of chances. And come playoff time you obviously go with the hot hand. I would even be leaning towards mixing in Abreu some in the regular season.

I thought Framber could have won it also.

I've seen a million more emasculate innings in MLB than I have immaculate ones.

If Brantley didn't make that play against NY... If Altuve didn't get rid of the yips... if Maldonado threw out 3 base runners in thr first inning of Game 7 in the ALCS... oh WAIT.

Back in the old days, Greinke could hit a solo homer to end and start things himself.

I was very pleased to see us pull Hader in when it seemed like we were content to wait until trade deadline. Abreu, Pressly, Hader should really be effective no matter the order.

This is huge. Pressly just wants to win.
