Lol. If 3 years into a rebuild your expectation was to be a title contender, Stone isn't the stupid one you are. Nowhere on planet earth did anyone think the Rockets would be competing for a championship this year. U okay bro?
Mediocre is a understatement. None of these critics of Stone want to admit how wrong they were about this year's team. They thought we'd be terrible, Brooks was a horrible signing, Amen being a horrible draft pick, FVV worst signing etc...This team is better than expected & our culture has changed. Stone has quietly done a fantastic job rebuilding and everyone knows it
New nickname for this guy….Kool Aid Man. You’re right, our losing record is fantastic along with the unbelievablely great pick of Amen, along with dumping several wasted firsts, along with KPJ dedication, along with Silas, along with Green over Mobley, along with Oladipo over Jarrett Allen, along with Jock, etc. Stone for GM of the year!!!!!
Oh you thought championship or bust this year? It amazes me what these low IQ posters expect 3 years into a rebuild
I won't disagree and explicitly said I don't think he's a top 15 GM. However, what I initially replied to shows you have tenuous grasp of events. Sorry.
Yes, with a world class coach picked by Tilman this time (after the Stone Silas debacle), I expect a record above .500 and a better squad with all our top 5 picks Mr. Kool Aid guy. Amen, Jabrari, Jalen, Jock, etc ain’t leading us to a championship next year or the year after. Losers accept continual losing so look in the mirror Kool Aid Man. Maybe in your dream world we can eventually even bring back Nix and Silas for you.
I don’t really get calling someone else a loser because he’s ok with the team not being a championship contender a year after having the second worst record in the league…also someone’s outlook towards their favorite basketball team has literally 0 bearing on how they approach life outside of their sports fandom. Just sayin
Well, he might not be a loser but he sure heckles other posters, just saying as well. At least he has a tendency to force his hot takes upon the throats of others......unhealthy.
The GM ultimately picks the coach & Stone made a great pick in Ime. What you failed to mention is Ime wanted the Rockets over everybody. So how bad was it if the best coach on the market WANTED to be here. Also the Silas tenure was clearly about tanking. The bad salaries & losses we took contributed to draft capital, tons of cap space etc..This is what made us attractive to Ime. Just looking at the direction we're headed, great young coach, solid core of young players, tons of future picks, I'm not sure what your gripe is about Stone. Basically you're a bunch of Stone Trolls
I think we need to look at what opportunities were presented to Stone, and how he handled them, you can't just specify a number of years to build a contender, every team and GM will be presented with a different set of tools and assets and that timeline will be different. Stone was apparently offered SGA for the #2 pick who he ended up declining and taking Jalen Green with. OKC now with SGA as their best player is #2 in the West halfway through the season, and we still owe them our own draft pick this year. Stone was also given an opportunity to trade up and potentially take Paulo instead of Jabari. Stone was given an opportunity that I do not think we have ever seen in the NBA. He was able to dismantle a contending team with a super star player, and then he was also able to tank for 3 consecutive years to get top draft picks. That should have given him an unprecedented opportunity to rebuild in many different ways, he chose to do so through the draft. He has missed on almost every late round pick, Cam is looking good so far , but most others he has picked are on their way out of the league. Most importantly, the three top picks seem to be underperforming, although Amen has been injured/sick and they seem to be taking things slow with him. Stone has done well with moving up to draft Sengun, and Tari is a guy that is playing better than his draft position. FVV and Dillon Brooks currently have positive trade value as well, but Stone was gifted with significant opportunity of cap space. He has not been on the winning side of a trade in 3 years, and I don't think he really has the skills to be a good GM. The bigger concern for me is Patrick's development. Patrick needs to be learning from a group of competent leaders, and I don't think he is getting that right now. I think Patrick would be able to be trained into a successful President of Basketball / CEO, but the GM role is something you need to have real training in. Either a solid top tier degree and experience outside of this org for several years. Whatever he is being trained to do, it will be worse than Stone unless we get someone else in here. A bit of luck w the Brooklyn picks may change how some perceive Stone, but overall relying on luck has not worked out so far.
That's ridiculous. A game plan set in motion years ago is coming to fruition, and now you want to axe Stone. Wow.
Dude is a goofy. You have to purposely try to build a non shooting team in 2024 and I feel like that's what he did.
