Having a legitimate DPOY player who brings .745 TS and a relentless rebounding presence would be beneficial yes. Having 2 top NBA players alongside that helps a little too.

Wiggins actually did not have that kind of scoring potential but he was moldable on Defense......he is also 6'7.

His Offense was pretty good but not to that level where he can just flat out score on a good team.

He did 4 blocks against Knicks. Perennial DPOY.

Rockets keep up this horrible play, and they might wake up one day behind the damn Grizzlies in the standings

We just have no offensive identity outside of pick and roll or post up. How the hell does Jalen and Sengun have such **** chemistry?

I've posted this before but I'll keep posting it - the Rockets have regressed but the regression is partially the very predictable regression of their shooting and of opponents from beyond the arc back to the league median

Because Jalen Green really sucks at scoring in a slow half-court offense and he already wasn't very good at scoring in a faster pace. I feel like Sengun can play both fast and slow, but Jalen is really bad at this slow style with no transition and Sengun drawing 1+ defenders with him in the post/PnR (he's the only player we have worth double teaming). Our offense is objectively bad, it looks bad, it's not smooth, even in the halfcourt slow pace the execution is not crisp, the movement off ball is lacking, the placement of the shooters is inexplicable.

What I was incorrectly expecting was that we would be a faster team that takes advantage of our young legs more. Even in that sort of system, I expected it to take a bit of time (20-30 games) to do that in an efficient way conducive to winning. After an extra year of two of working on his game and adding lots of muscle, I could see him becoming effective in a grind-it-out style you usually see against the best defensive teams in the playoffs. I was expecting his defense to become above average after the age of 24 coinciding with two years of good defensive coaching, more experience, more muscle for contact, incremental shooting improvements.

What happened instead was Udoka came and turned it up to the highest difficulty on day 1. Clearly, it's a lot for Jalen. He had no fundamentals taught to him before the NBA and practically no one improved their fundamentals the past 2 seasons. Came into this season a 21 year player with the fundamentals of a high school player and only now the type of body he should have had when he was drafted. Sprinkle that with 2 years of being allowed to exercise bad habits with no accountability. Burned into the brain.

People say Udoka chose this offense to hide Sengun's defense but I think it's to hide his own weaknesses as an offensive coach - and it has impacted Jalen badly as a fit, I still think it will only take an extra 6 months than we thought and Jalen will catch up. Many people can do work with an obedient SG who is ultra athletic has a great first step, has shown flashes of elite scoring, showed defensive improvement at 21 years old. That's a good prospect if you ignore his draft position. However, I'm not sure Stone/Udoka will give him that much time. Jalen is Stone's pick, Cam is kind of Udoka's pick. Udoka will be happy to crown Cam if and when he deserves it.

It's time for Jalen to get his **** together basically. Up until halfway into season 3, there have been reasons for his delayed development. From this point onwards they're excuses. Now that he knows what he knows, if the coaching staff is not giving it to him, then do it yourself Jalen. Like Brooks said, watch film on your own, be a professional. I'm not even sure from watching his interview he understands that Cam is about to take his starting spot from him. Maybe that's the shake up he needs to wake up.
