Just don’t think he’s worth the cost unless he’s the primary point guard, that’s where he’s valuable.
I prefer Murray at PG too, but Fred can play some 2, we need to dial back his minutes anyway, and he’s an expiring next year so I don’t see a big problem.
Agreed. Murray hasn't worked out in ATL because he's not a good off ball player and Trae is so much better at him in PPP that there's no logic letting Murray run the offense. Same would happen here, there's no logic taking the ball out of Sengun-FVV hands if the player has no chance of matching their efficiency. We'll end up with a below average off ball guy who seems to get defensively disinterested when he doesn't have the ball in his hands. To get value out of Murray he has to be a part time PG and you have to convince him to play good defense again. I don't know about this season, but prior to this season Hawks fans were saying his defense had taken a dramatic hit. His shooting has improved this season but I don't know how stable it is. Whoever starts at SG needs to be a very good shooter and passable defender. The Udoka offense (so far) does not give a lot of space in the paint for drives, there's little off ball movement, no transition, no lob threat. Has to be someone good in the slow halfcourt playoff-style. Something like a Derrick White or Klay Thompson or Eric Gordon. Maybe Keldon Johnson is close to taking that step. Obviously if we could nab an efficient 25 ppg scorer with below average defense, that would be great too.
Brogdon and Gafford would work for me in a 3 team deal, If we give up VO/Landale/Tate/Bullock and a couple of seconds between Washington and Portland. FVV/Brogdan/Amen/Holiday Green/Cam/Brogdan Brooks/Tari/Cam/Amen Bari/Tari/Green Sengun/Gafford/Green No changes to the starters. A second unit consisting of Brogdan/Cam/Amen/Tari/Gafford(or uncle Jeff or Bari at the 5) . We get another high IQ vet guard to help mentor our young guards. A legit backup 5. And it doesn't cost the farm. We can win games and still develop talent. Brogdan gives us FVV insurance and a much needed shooter. Team makes the play in and development is not sacrificed.

On the back up C situation. . One cautionary note, on enamored candidates like Gafford. Rim running and possible lob threat. Wizard has lot of issues, but one of them this season has been bad rebounding. Gafford seems to be at the heart of that. Wiz lost to Pistons at home yesterday, severely out rebounded again. The more tracking on Gafford and the Wizards this season, the more sour I am on him now. Would go for the other candidates if they're in the running (Clint, or the cheaper Biyombo...etc).
I like Barnes but he would be an odd fit considering we have Dillon, Jabari, and Tari--unless Tari's leg is worse than we thought and they know something we don't.
