We are almost halfway through the season and Ime is still talking about energy and competitiveness.

I get that young players need to get better and hone their skills but some things are either in you or they arent.

Its time to start benching guys Ime.

Some high praise for Sengun regarding what he's seen this season so far.

Ime said early that players that to unlearn lot of things and he hoped that at the ASB he would not have to coach up players as much as he did in the beginning.

This has not happened......esp. Udoka never thought that the team was this bad away from Home.

Ime wanted this game - and these dudes got blown out by 30. Way to play for your coach.

    …at least make it competitive

Yeah, but several times he was comparing to their proven energy and competitiveness early in the season. Isn’t he saying he knows they have what he is asking for?

in that sense, get used to continued post-games — all the way to a the Finals — mentioning energy and competitiveness (as Hakeem says, “fockass”). It’s one of the biggest things you’ll hear coaches say in playoff post-game interviews. I know for fact, Ime talked about this after losses vs GSW.

    TL/DR: it’s common talk, no?

I don’t recall many coaches of winning teams who after losses talked about their teams competitiveness so much. We didn’t lose as much under dantoni but I don’t remember that being a critique of the team when we did.

I’ve heard coaches talk about low energy or not being focused a lot but I haven’t heard a teams “competitiveness” be questioned so much.

Makes it sound like they’re being punked out there. Playing soft.

First, thanks to @Clutch for putting these post-game interviews up. I've listened to most.

Second, the questions are always the same. They are just surface-level/game specific, most of which are open-ended. I get that the journalists have to do it every game and don't want to get Ime mad at them, but every so often, I'd like to hear some questions on aspects of team building or specific strategic decisions, like why is there not more movement on offense? Right now, we're filling a lot of the blanks with our own individual experience and knowledge--which is great for post counts and arguments here--but the whole purpose of journalism is to bring more clarity to an issue and that would be nice to have on occasion.

2 man game isn’t it. Over reliance on Sengun as primary scorer and over utilization of FVV as secondary scorer. FVV was fourth in scoring on that Championship 2019 Toronto team. His main role was facilitating, ball handling, and shooting. The later years his role evolved into playing a little more PNR with players like OG, Boucher, and Poetl last year. But those teams didn’t rely on PNR and FVV was never a dominant paint scorer with low paint efficiency and foul frequency throughout his career. He shot 38% paint non restricted area and 51% less than 5 feet last year. His career 2pt% is .433. He got to restricted area with 180 FGA last year and 163 FGA in non RA. While heavy PNR elite guys like Trae Young FGA in RA was over 270 and in paint non RA FGA was over 400.

In these post championship years He still played the role of facilitator deferring to Siakim, OG and Barnes to iso. He was at his best at those 15 ft elbow jumpers, long 2s and 25 ft 3s. But he is now featured and asked to be a secondary scorer and playmaker to Sengun as he continues to dominate in touches, sets ran featuring 2 man game with Sengun. Love Fred but I think he simply isn’t good enough to play this current role.

Not only FVV is forced to score but also Sengun. He averageed 24.8 ppg at the last 5 games but only 3 apg. Some of the points shoud go to the other members of the squad when Alp's assist numbers must be higher. He is a progigy assist-wise and made his first assist at the 37th minute in a recent game.

35.2 mpg and 3 assists average. No one complaining. Very strange.
