If they really want to make a Playoff Push, then yeah, they might just want to look for a starting SG that is a veteran and that provides consistency...... Not necessarily trading away Jalen......but moving Jalen to the bench is one option. Thus Jalen becomes what KPJ should have been, the 6th Man. All the Greenies just have to find ways to cope with that. (Making the roster deeper)
Right, I'm not suggesting trading him at this point, he has absolutely no value due to how poorly he's played the first 2.5 years of his career. I just think that the Rockets can't keep forcing him into a role he has NEVER earned if they want to develop the kind of culture Udoka claims to want to establish.
Who said it has to be a younger player, it might be a veteran player - look I know a lot of his GOF like yourself would be butt hurt, but most Rockets fans just want the team to be better. And I guess some Filipino fans would need to switch to whatever team he is traded to help them with their identity issues. Though I don't understand why anyone would be embarrassed about their heritage. DD
To be fair does Jalen Greens efficiency go up with lesser volume? I'm gonna say the answer is no. I don't have the numbers but I don't really remember his low scoring games being more efficiently than his high scoring games. I think if Green can average 15 points a game from here on out on high efficiency, he would have proven to me he's a decent player worth developing
I think that's what we need to find out, if we can make Jalen Green a halfway decent player by bringing him off the bench and limiting his playing time and shot attempts, then he can be a guy worth keeping long term in a role like that. If they change the role and he's still nothing but a low efficiency chucker, you just let him go at the end of his current deal.
Great, I don't care about any of that stuff, just winning basketball games and getting winning players. However, it is annoyingly clear that some are SO into Green because of his heritage.....same for Sengun, and for Lin - I don't care one bit for that stuff, just win. DD
His efficiency would only go up on lesser volume if it meant improving his shot selection. I almost always know whether a Jalen Green shot is going to go in before it leaves his hands. He hasn't shown any sign of developing that awareness himself, unfortunately. That's why he's inefficient whether it's on low volume or high. Hopefully Ben Sullivan is working with him on it--I know he preaches shot selection with his players
We are not in a win-now mold. We are more like in a don't-lose-more-than-you-need-to-in-developing-the-kids mode.
Green isn't very bright, that is the problem his ability to make good QUICK decisions is severely lacking. Most of his problems are because of this, and his poor fundamentals and left hand.... He just isn't that good, and will only decline as his athleticism declines. MOVE ON! DD
It is a cultural event for the Filipino fans or fans of other heritage.......so it should not be merely about the players. You do not have to care, all they have to do is attract more ethnicity and diversity. I have nothing to do with Argentina yet one of my favorites will always be Luifa Scola and that makes me want to learn more about the Gaucho and their BBQ.
Yeah, Scola is one of my favorites too but you didn't see swarms of Scola fans swooning over him polluting the discussion with their favorite player because of their heritage like some are doing here. If it is just about basketball - no problem....but it sometimes isn't.....which is annoying. Yes, we are.....we are actively trying to win NOW....we may not be ready to win a ring, but we should be in WIN NOW and WIN FOREVER mode. DD
I think Jalen Green has been improving on defense and distributing. His three point % has been improving over the last few weeks. I think patience is warranted. I think confirmation bias and group think can warp our perceptions of players. I think Green is caught up in this. There are flaws, certainly, but I think the expectations for him have been unrealistic. I don't see the upside in trading him right now. Keep your powder dry.
As high as it gets is whatever someone else is willing to pay. Im struggling to see what point youre getting at in your posts. GMs see different value in prospects. Just because some of us have the opinion that jalen is no longer worth investing doesn't mean some GM wouldnt be willing to give up something of relative value for him. Like, someone could absolutely believe Amen is a bust, will never be able to shoot and is not going to be worth anything but also have the opinion that some GM would be willing to give up valuable assets for him.
Man.. just trade the guy for the much needed back up big and call it a day. Move Cam up. The sell high "due to potential" ship sailed away last year.
I would offer him 15M a season which I'm pretty sure he would reject it. I just don't feel comfortable offering him anything that starts 20+ for multiple seasons. Truthfully, I rather just pay Malik Monk in free agency who would only be 26. He's who we want Jalen to be.
