Again the same thing with Rokman can you name these average SGs so we can benchmark Jalen to them and see if he really is that much below everyone else.

Those aren't average SGs. You think average SGs make over 20M a year like Mikal Bridges and Jordan Clarkson?

Eric was even 6th man of the year you think he's an average SG?

Pretty easy but you can't even do it lol.

Hmm, I'm torn about whether he should be traded or simply have his role reduced (perhaps with a competitor brought in to fight for minutes with him, perhaps just in favor of Whitmore). But I'll simply point out that his value is largely his untapped potential, and that will be the same for other front offices as it is for the Rockets. Some teams might be willing/able to give him a longer leash because they haven't identified their primary star player going forward, whereas at this point I think we're about 99% certain it's going to be Sengun.

I don't think how much you're getting paid determines whether you're "average". When I think "average", I think, below all-star level, but better than some middle of the bench player. So somewhere around a low-end starter or a good 6th man. This group largely falls into that level, though yes, Herro and Simons are maybe a bit better, perhaps falling into "good starter, not quite an all-star" territory.

If 3rd year Jalen Green is not better than 102 years old Eric Gordon, what in the hell are you talking about?

So how would you rate Caris Levert?

Pretty sure nobody rates IQ and Tyler Herro as "low end starters", Herro's like the 2ndperimeter option after Jimmy B. Coby White is seen as the next Chicago franchise player nobody would call him a low end starter.

I never said it was a list of "average" players, my dude. I specifically said I'm not sure what counts as average, yeah? I just said it was a list of Jalen's young peers who he should be competitive with. Like, I'm not expecting him to be an all-star, but in his third year he should at least be among the 10 best under 25 shooting guards in the league, and I'm not sure that he is.

What are you trying to accomplish by trading him?

A chance of winning 44 games vs 41 games?

You are willing to give up a talented 21 year old for that?

I'm only trading Green if I think I'm getting a core piece in return, maybe a core piece that is more compatible with Sengun but what I'm not going to do is trade Green for some "savy vet" who's just basically a more consistent shooter but with zero if the upside and fear that sometimes a player like Green causes for opposing defenses.

You mention Sengun who is 21. Sengun has a lot of time ahead of him to be a leader of a championship level team. It ain't going to be this year. This year people were excited if the team went past 30 wins for the season.

Trading Green this year is a fools errand.

Tell me what your purpose is for trading Green first and maybe I'll get a clearer picture of the madness.

You responded to my post comparing Jalen to an average SG but then your peers are the top young guns in the NBa and expect him to be a top 10 in his position, I think that's just disenguous cuz I never claimed Jalen is a top 10 sg and while he may be that in the future nobody is saying he is that right now.

Jalen is clearly not a top 10 SG RN, if he was the he wouldn't get so much hate. Im just saying all the hater who keep saying he isn't even performing like an average SG can't provide average SG we can compare him too. They just say he sucks without having any idea how good an average SG is supposed to be.

I don't expect him to be a top 10 SG, I expect him to be a top 10 SG under age 25. I don't know if he's even a top 20 SG overall.

I actually agree with you, I wouldn't trade him without getting a core piece in return, or at least a guy I feel very strongly will develop into one. (Obviously picks/other assets would have to be included in such a deal.)

Either way the average SG is top 15 starting SG out of 30 so even then your assumption is too high.

Like I said that's a let down for a top 2 pick, everybody knows that by now. But it's also unfair to say he is somehow dogshit because to me he is playing exactly like an average SG. To be playing at an average level at age 21 I think that's very promising he will be a really good role player in the future at the very least. Again that's a huge letdown for a 2nd pick but he clearly is better than a bust or a below average player which people are saying.

Come on. He's a 17 ppg starter on a winning team at age 21.

He has the second highest usage on a winning team.

He's definitely a top 10 sg under 25 and this is during his worst stretch of his career.

The crazy thing is like 3 weeks of him playing at a different trajectory like a 3 week span of 25 ppg on 58% ts reverses narratives. You don't trade a 21 year old where 3 weeks of play can reverse narratives especially on a team that was expected to win 30-35 games this season.

Jalen's problem is his bad efficiency I don't think he qualifies as a top 10 cuz even if he has high usage he has bad efficiency. If had low usage and high efficiency then people would be more forgiving, he can't even use the high usage as an excuse cuz he is 3rd option at best behind Sengun and FVV.

I think right now he is just as good as Caris Levert and nobody said Levert was a top 10 at any point in his career. Jalen Def has a lot more potential than Caris Levert considering he is only 21, but that remains to be seen not his performance right now.

This season, the average SG shoots 37% from 3 and a TS% of 57.2%....that's not just starters, that's the average for the position as a whole.

Jalen is shooting 34.2% from 3 and his TS% is 52.9% this season.

So, he's not just subpar for a starter, he's subpar for the position in general.

There's simply no defending him, he's not even the best SG named Jalen from his own draft class.

Now, could he improve if he was put in a more proper bench role with his minutes and touches limited? Perhaps, I'm open to seeing if that would work, but right now he's just awful as a starter.

The average SG is also only scoring 11 pts a game, considering Jalen gets more pts then it balances out his efficiency cuz if you made that average SG shoot more attempts that average SG efficiency would drop as well. 37% from 3 on 4 attempts is equal to Jalen's 34% on 7 attempts.

    https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/starting-shooting-guards-average-stats-this-year

I understand efficiency is very important and I argued with another poster saying Jalen is somehow a top 10 SG due to his usage BUT at the same time you just don't look at efficiency without considering volume cuz if you take less shots it's a lot easier to be more efficient esp if you only shoot while wide open or only take layups from assists by others.

If you wanna hate on Jalen I get it but the don't use these stats wrongly and distort them cuz that reflects more on you than on Jalen.

The total number of points scored has to do with the volume of shots taken....obviously a mindless chucker playing starting minutes is going to score more points than a bench player, but that doesn't mean that they are a better scorer than the bench player who takes fewer shots. Jalen Suggs is only averaging 13 points per game off the bench, but he's a MUCH better scorer this season than Jalen Green has ever dreamed of being.
