**** YOU for thinking that parents have to be WOKE to not want to see their elementary school age children having concussions.

Are you a parent? or just not much of one?

Should be a parenting decision. Pretty simple

I don't know a ton about him but is he wrong? I have children and it's a parenting decision. The "current culture" shouldn't decide what you do as a parent

Well I would hope that if you have young children you'd use car seats and encourage people to wear their seat belts.

Both parenting decisions. Not seeing the correlation on making intelligent decisions. Not allowing kids to play sports, participate in gymnastics, cheerleaders, ect...is insane to me. Let's glue them to tvs and let them play video games, get overweight ect...

In this case, it is the difference between letting your kid in elementary school play flag football versus tackle football.

That wasn't the case a few decades ago until ... it was mandated. Now people look back on it and it seems so obvious that kids should wear seat belts. Good chance that 20 years from now, people will look back on the head injuries of today and realize the same.

I have zero problem with banning tackling for kids 12 and under.

This really shouldn’t be so controversial IMO.

Ok, and I can appreciate a parent being allowed to make that decision. There's a lot of things that can happen. I'm not assuming I love my children anymore than you do yours but I do think we're starting to scale back on a lot of things that made our childhoods cool. Just my personal opinion. Neither one of us is wrong. We both want our children to stay healthy

Well I certainly hope that isn't the case but obviously it's plausible. I do think that putting your child in a seat belt is different than allowing them to compete in physical sports but I do understand the point you're making even if our opinions differ.

I'll be 100% honest with you, I do not like the way society is treating children. Video game players, youtubers, social media influencers ect...are millionaires and kids see that and think it's an easy path when (in my opinion) helping them be active in activities that have them leaving their comfort zone help.

As I said I say this as a father and I completely respect your position. Obviously nobody wants head trauma for their child. It's always good to hear another parents perspective. Thanks for the insight and being respectful. You as well @No Worries

This has been an issue for years now and we see even former NFL players say that they don’t want their children to play to football.

As a coach of a violent sport for the last 15 years concussions have been the biggest issue we deal with. I’m required to get extra training in spotting concussions and rules have gotten stricter regarding concussions and potential concussions. I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility that might sport might be banned for youth.

I hear you and I’m a big proponent of youth sports. Safety though has always been the top issue and seeing players with concussions or other major injuries makes it difficult to push the sport.

I remember writing on social media after the Damar Hamlin situation that while horrific it’s rare and it shouldn’t turn people off from sports. As coaches, referees and others involved in your sports it’s both our duty but necessary if we want to keep it going to try to make it as safe as we can.

Well stated. I think we all agree none of want to see our children injured let alone with head trauma that could significantly impact their life. Really liked how you said it's on everyone involved to make sure it's not only safe but it keeps going. That is the perfect mindset.

Since it's your social media I completely understand if you don't want to share here but I would like reading what you wrote on Damar Hamlin

The kids end up playing high school football have risk too, also kids have risks playing any sport

is California going to cancel the Snoop youth football league?
    They aren’t playing flag football
This is just another plan for California to destroy male sports, keep in mind the whole PAC 12 is gone too
