Let's say you are a Republican - who is the Democrat that would be most palatable to you, if you absolutely had to choose one?

And vice versa, let's say you are a Democrat - who is the one Republican politician you find respectable enough that if you had no other choice at all, that one would be the "lesser evil" compared to all others?

Adam Kinzinger if he counts, since he's not currently serving.

I liked JD Vance as a person until he sold out to trump.

Larry Hogan and Mike DeWine seem like good people.

    I like as a person

    Christi
    Adam K
    Liz C
    Hogan

at times I like how Crenshaw stands up to the maga bullies

to be honest, I like any republican who is sensible and is willing to work and compromise and stands up for what's right. We don't always have to agree and there will be times I win and time you win but we work together for the good of ALL AMERICANS, not just what's good for the left or right. I hate that now congress won't even pass something beneficial just because it will be good for the other side...............kind of like the maga extremists are doing with any bill.......................the maga caucus is the reason this is the least accomplished group in like forever. They would rather tear the country down then actually work to make it better.

At this point, I'm ok with any Republican who doesn't vote to overthrow our democracy for the sake of one man's ego.

That’s mine too. I’m a registered independent, but I can’t stand the Republican Party now. Kinzinger puts country first and isn’t insane or spineless. It’s a low bar.
Now he’s a RINO because the only litmus test is if you say the election was stolen and swear fealty to Trump.

I would call Mike Gallagher a favorite more like respected and one I can to listen to during a debate. He's voted for trump policies almost all of the time, but he's one of the seven that didn't question the 2020 election results. He also served as a marine and earned a phd.

That can be considered a dangerous combo, though his efforts in defense and China are more backed up by work than simple pandering or petty fear mongering.

I can respectfully disagree with others if they truly have the nation's best interest in mind.

It's still a toss up for him on where his final ambitions truly lie.

This is literally how low the bar is now. I find myself saying, "Well, POLITICIAN X is against much of what I'm for, but at least they don't support the Big Lie and are generally against trumpybear."

    Sad times, indeed.

The “other party” for me would be the Republican Party.

If there is a Republican who is against cruelty, name-calling, bullying and for constructive dialogue, consistent conservative principles, functioning democracy in accordance with the constitution, and cooperation with global partners to tackle the biggest challenges facing human civilization (e.g., war, pandemics, and climate change) — then they’re good in my book.

Can the last two posters come up with at least one name?

I have heard some names which were new to me, and am reading up on them, just find it interesting.

I don’t track Republican politicians and their positions all that closely. Os mentioned Chris Sununu in the past as someone he likes, and reading a bit about him he seems very decent.

I'd prefer to lose a few elections and honestly settle things at the ballot box than, perhaps, never meaningfully vote again.

Mitt Romney, Lisa Murkowski, and Susan Collins are all Republicans from the "old guard" that I'm fine with in positions of power. I largely disagree with them on most policy issues, but I don't doubt that they care about the continuation of American democracy. Throw Bill Cassidy, senator from Louisiana, in there, too, since he voted to convict Trump during his second impeachment.

All politics is, at its core, is us arguing about how to solve societal issues. Different approaches are fine and should be able to stand up to scrutiny or the ballot box. I cannot abide a party whose majority now prefers to destroy that system for the sake of Donald Trump's feelings instead of actually solving the American people's problems.

For Republicans Mitt Romney is at the top of my list. While I didn’t vote for him in 2012 I always thought he was a decent man and would’ve had little problems with him as president. As it is I would vote for Mitt
    Romney over many Democrats.

My friends always give me **** for defending Mitt Romney lol. I even voted for him.

For all you MAGA losers, I recommend watching the 2014 Mitt Romney Netflix documentary. Demonstrates how to deal with a loss like an adult, with class.

I've also always found Chris Christie to be pretty reasonable (outside of those months defending Trump). If not for some ill-timed buffoonery on his part over the years, I think he could have been president.

Otherwise, no one. I can't imagine ever voting for a Republican again in my lifetime. I prefer the human race to progress over time.

Not really a democrat. I am getting older I guess and political allegiances change.

Still - I am pro choice and the Republican Party has gone too weird for me under Trump.

Republicans I would vote for … Mitt Romney, Phil Scott, Charlie Baker, Larry Hogan, Michael Steele… I also like Bill Weld.

I would love to believe that the GOP would get back to something I could vote for. Don’t have a lotta faith that will happen.
