I like to look at it as if the rockets took Cam at 4 and amen was a dart throw at 20. Makes you feel just a tad better
I guess, but I don't think the G-League is going to test him much based upon the defense I've seen. The fact Cam was still available at 20 is still bizarre to me. Even being outside the top 10 was bizarre. I don't know wth those people were hearing about his knee, medical issues, coachability, etc. I admit I wanted Amen over him, though. Amen's been a bit of a disappointment so far, but whatever.
That’s the nba draft. Mistakes happen all over the place every single year. As far as I’m concerned Cam was the 4th pick. Rockets are just extremely fortunate it worked out that way
I don't know why you put so much stock in dunking. He doesn't think big dunks gives you an edge. That's his personality. Tim Duncan was a lowkey dude and IIRC he didn't look to posterize people either. His trademark move was a bank shot off the glass. But he is widely regarded as one of the greatest players ever.
I did not, it just had the effect on Clutchfans, I honestly just put it out there minutes or an hour ago.... It is pretty common for athletic rookies to come in and dunk.....maybe I am mistaken but I had that impression over the years. As years go on, those rookies tend to move to other areas of the game but that was why the Slam Dunk contest was full with rookies and sophomores.
Came here to post this. Same concept as imagining we took Alpi at 2 and Jalen at 16. Bari is doing better, but I still rate Tari higher...so...Tari 3 and Bari 17, but in reality, I think their value is not that far apart, with Bari having higher upside maybe. This is the one where maybe you don't need to do the switch to feel better. Cam at 4 and Amen at 20.
So weird that a guy that couldn’t shoot and dominate against high school kids isn’t going well in his rookie year against NBA players.
Based on your history as the number one Silas defender, it’s doubtful that Amen will be a star. Right now, I’d just be happy to see his three point production go from 10% to 18-20%.
That's exactly the plan though. If OKC didn't own all of our picks for 3 years we might not have been this gung ho about signing free agents. Mediocrity is okay because it's an improvement from last year and we lose our picks anyway.
We won't know what he is until he gets consistent 25-30mpg outings in the next few years. His January is not too bad off the bench. 19mpg 7ppg 4.2rpg 2.8apg 48.1 per cent shooting 1.2spg. He could be an Iguodala type eventually
That pass he made to Jeff Green was so damn slick. But yeah, I agree that while his potential is sky-high, it might be best to get him 10-15 3PA a game in the GL. Let him fire away down there until he is at 35%+...
OKC could trade their other picks for pick swaps....... without a major trade shakeup the mediocrity could very well extend beyond the FVV years. That is not even guaranteed when Wemby is starting to get real good.....then it could be below mediocrity again. In the West the 12th spot has a record around 0.480, it is considered mediocrity....nothing special.
Not sure I understand your first point. But what were you proposing we do or didn't do. We had Sengun plus other kids, we had quite a bit of cap space so we signed two vets and a good coach to win some games. Not really sure what other alternatives there is at the moment other than just letting the young players play some meaningful games. Or are you just bitter about the Amen pick. If we had picked Anthony Black or something does it make a huge difference on our situation.
If they wanted that way, then they should have gone the Sacramento way, to go after an All Star (Sabonis) ..... I do not have any problem with the pick other than I do not think it is fitting a team that cannot shoot even without Amen.....but I like the twins in general. Bitter is an old woman, I have not reached the age when I am becoming bitter lol, I just feel comical when the Rockets draft yet another raw player..... The thing which keeps me going is that Orlando, Indiana, OKC and the Wolves have made it and there is still hope....... You will come to understand with my posts, they are mostly observant......than making a big point. (Other than dealing with Only Fans)
Unless I saw different, Amen didnt necessarily say he avoided dunking. He said he does not have a flashy dunk package, he just dunks regular looking. There is some appealing to optics to it, to say the right thing. Like Cam Whitmore, he was criticized for saying KJ Martin is NBA inspo to him, cuz he likes how KJ "bangs it on em". Making him look dumb & immature not talking about finer points of the game. Even KJ Martin himself as a rookie said he needed to be like PJ Tucker to get time, saying what they're "supposed to say". So wouldnt put much into player dunk talk really since its oddly kinda taboo
Honestly I wouldn't be opposed to making a trade soon for an young all star and give up the nets picks and anyone but Sengun. It's just the market is quite dry for a disgruntled star that fits our timeline.
