He may win, but his statement of facts and charging docs are messy: spelling errors, omitted evidence, narrative driven. I'm aware it doesn't have to be as clean and direct as a federal indictment, but meeting bare minimum standards isn't a great start. I also agree that the discovery process will shed much more light on this. I'm just very skeptical at this point.

Yes certainly this case isn’t guaranteed and Trump has the right to a vigorous defense. This case though was being built for years and previous prosecutors in Braggs office resigned because they felt Bragg was too slow in pursuing it. I find to odd to consider
This case as very weak for a prosecutor who previously has shown caution to suddenly bring it.

We all should be skeptical. Trump is innocent until proven guilty. Bragg has to make his case guilty beyond a shadow of reasonable doubt before a jury of Trump's peers.

    ETA: to appease @JuanValdez

Let's not get carried away here. The burden is to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, not a shadow of a doubt. And that presumption of innocence is a burden on the court and not on the public.

How convenient for the State of New York!

When Gym Jordan intimidates obstructs Alan Bragg and breaks New York state law, they can slam the cuffs on Jordan. No need to try and extradite Jordan from the DC area. Think of all of the tax dollars the State of New York will save!!!

It's not really to intimidate Bragg. The indictment has already been filed. There's no putting the toothpaste back in the tube. There is going to be a trial. The point is to support political talking points that Bragg is an evil DA and the indictment isn't brought in good faith, so that law and order voters can rationalize why it somehow still makes sense to vote for a criminal.

Jim Jordan Broke This New York Law With Alvin Bragg Threats: Kirschner

Legal analyst Glenn Kirschner has said that Representative Jim Jordan broke the law in New York state by threatening to investigate Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

Jordan, an Ohio Republican who currently serves as chair of the House Judiciary Committee, vowed in the wake of Donald Trump's historic indictment to investigate Bragg's conduct in bringing criminal charges against the former president, claiming that the district attorney's actions were politically motivated. Pursuant to that goal, Jordan on Thursday issued a subpoena for testimony to former Manhattan prosecutor Mark Pomerantz, who worked on the Trump case before resigning last February.

In response, Bragg's office released a statement decrying Jordan's efforts as "an unprecedented campaign of harassment and intimidation."

"The House GOP continues to attempt to undermine an active investigation and ongoing New York criminal case with an unprecedented campaign of harassment and intimidation," a spokesperson for the Manhattan district attorney's office said Thursday. "Repeated efforts to weaken state and local law enforcement actions are an abuse of power and will not deter us from our duty to uphold the law."

In a Saturday episode of his podcast, Justice Matters, Kirschner argued that Jordan's efforts to investigate Bragg were in violation of a law in New York against "obstructing governmental administration."

"Under our law, a person is guilty of Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree when that person intentionally...prevents or attempts to prevent a public servant from performing an official function by means of intimidation, physical force or interference," the law cited by Kirshner, a former federal prosecutor, reads.

"That is precisely what Jim Jordan has done and is doing," Kirschner argued. "And that's precisely what district attorney Alvin Bragg put Jim Jordan on notice of."

Kirschner continued, stating that it remains to be seen what Bragg will do in response to Jordan's efforts, adding that he can either let the congressman off the hook or "enforce the laws of New York," and pursue an arrest warrant against the Republican. Over the course of making the argument, Kirschner also noted that Jordan's efforts were in violation of the 10th Amendment, as the federal government cannot interfere with a state-level prosecution.

Kirschner, a notably vocal critic of Trump, previously said that the former president had violated that same law when he made several posts to his social media platform, Truth Social, insulting Bragg and threatening "death and destruction" if he were to be indicted.

As of now, Bragg has made no indication that he is considering obstruction charges for Jordan or Trump.

I was listening to a legal talking head who put out the theory that Jordan is doing this to get access to the prosecutions strategy and then las those onto the Trump legal defense team.

I would say that Jordan has been very transparent about his willingness to help Trump over country.

It’s obvious that fox has proof the election was stolen! That’s why they’re trying to settle with Dominion. Wake up sheeple!

It’s doesn’t bode well for the country that so many people still believe this.

The News of the World phone hacking scandal has cost them close to $2 billion and still counting. They'd rather pay out than have cases go to court.

Big figures but I think we underestimate how much Rupert can shell out. He lost teens of billions when he tried to get his Star Network set up in China.

Before anyone of you get any ideas, swatting is illegal.

Special counsel Jack Smith was targeted by attempted swatting on Christmas Day (nbcnews.com)

WASHINGTON — Special counsel Jack Smith, who is overseeing the prosecution of former President Donald Trump in two federal cases, was the target of an attempted swatting at his Maryland residence on Christmas Day.

According to two law enforcement sources, someone called 911 and said that Smith had shot his wife at the address where Smith lives.

Montgomery County Police dispatched units toward the home but were called off when the Deputy U.S. Marshals protecting Smith and his family told police that it was a false alarm and that everyone inside the home was safe.

    ...

Smith’s attorney Cecil VanDevender previously told appeals court judges from the D.C. Circuit that Smith’s office has “been subject to multiple threats” and “intimidating communication” after Trump published “inflammatory posts” about Smith.

NBC News reported earlier Monday that Tanya Chutkan, the federal judge overseeing the election interference case, appeared to be the victim of a similar swatting incident over the weekend.

Swatting involves the false reporting of a crime in progress to draw police to a certain location.

Judge Chutkan was also a target.

    https://www.cbsnews.com/news/specia...e-tanya-chutkan-trump-2020-election-swatting/

Law enforcement was dispatched in response to a false call of a shooting at a Washington, D.C., residence, according to local police and public audio from the fire department. The sources confirmed to CBS News the home belonged to Chutkan, who was home at the time, and property records list her as the owner.

Cool, boot them if it's true. I don't see how any of this would affect the trial of a former president who tried to override the will of Georgia's voters while in office.

"Your honor, I cannot be prosecuted for robbing the liquor store because the DA is having sex with someone."
