Can't convince me that there aren't WR's in street clothes who could give more production than Metchie and Hutchinson right now. These guys can't separate and when there number is called on, can't make a play despite getting there hands on the ball. WR is still a need on this team in the upcoming draft.
Yeah, it's pretty disappointing that neither of those guys has stepped up and shown anything with the opportunities they've been given. I really thought Hutchison would have some good moments.
He just isn’t a great route runner. Receivers with great feet/routes usually always translate there game from college to the pro’s….
I'm thinking that 2 of Green X2, Patterson, Juice can upgrade the C LG spots. Tartt has looked really good at a DT spot. Still gotta re-sign Rankins though. I would say getting Stroud weapons, LB and S should be the offseason priorities.
https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/all/houston-texans/ Look at this list before you think we have LOTS OF MONEY for FAs. Those we keep will get the bulk of available $. Even if you only sign half the 28 FAs to new contracts.
Around 70% of the time as most of the NFL does. Is Nico and Tank not good enough that you must forego a positional group that on paper (and as evidence by the game vs Indy) is not lacking skill or explosion? It just strikes me odd to devote a high pick to add on to this group while others are left devoid of talent. You could quite literally find a cheap option to pay 3rd fiddle via free agency.
The offense doesn't look the same without Tank and I don't trust his ability to stay healthy. I also think that if you added one more dynamic WR and a stud RB in the draft you would have one of the best offenses in the NFL. I also want to give Stroud everything he needs to be successful. The ol will be fine once everybody is healthy and depth already exists. I wouldn't be against drafting a developmental ol with one of the late rd picks. The defense is where I would spend the fa money. I don't see DT as a big issue now but Tartt has been added. Of course if Jones or Wilkins could be signed that's a different story. I'm a fan of Sweat too and if he fell to say 40-45 trading up for him should be an option. But I like Murphy almost as much as I do Sweat and there are other DT'out there that are pretty good too that could be had later in the draft. 2 down DT's are undervalued in the draft and you can probably find a good one in the 3rd rd. We think the same about LB. Where they really need to add it a dynamic young coverage Safety. I really like Nubin in the 2nd or Rod Moore from Michigan in the 3rd. Both are good in coverage and solid tacklers. Enjoy talking ball with you and isn't it great that we can be having this discussion rather than who Caserio is going to be picking with the 3rd pick in the draft.
Tank got hurt on a coaching blunder that had him blocking on a run. I dont think he is an injury threat that we need to gameplan for already. I do agree that him out of the lineup does hurt, but it may be too early to consider him a guy that requires a contingency due to health. Its cool to kick around different ideas. I dont think my fan preference is better than any other guys here. The biggest unknown will be how many 'star' level players will be willing to come here to play with DeMeco and CJ? That could change everything if veterans are suddenly drawn to this team and willing to take less than market for their services.
Nobody wants that job. And if they’re asking to speak to a one year OC then that means they’re 1st, 2nd,3rd,4th,5th etc have said ‘nah I’m good bro’.
They can have him. It would just be fun to see how much better CJ is than Bryce and there would be no doubt or argument about it amongst fans and the twitterverse.
Shouldn’t hiring a GM first be more a priority than hiring a coach? I thought this was a rule of thumb in all pro sports.
